Hello everyone. For some time now i've wanted to try and make a TBS (isometric?), but i seriously lack graphics. I'm planning on keeping it fairly simple and releasing it free2play on mobile devices (probably android). I never tried a TBS before but i think it might take a few months, so is there anyone bored enough to work together on this one?
what's TBS ? pointers please.
Turn based strategy.
are you going for 2d or 3d? you should also explain your idea a bit
2d tile based, think HOMM or even more Disciples like. Nothing is set in stone though, that's why i don't provide more info. Right now i'm only working on menus, buttons and stuff.
thats nice, those are some of my favourites, please show those screens and then we can give some feedback
you gotta be kidding me. screens. right... why would i ever need to post a request here if i had enough graphics for screens? Moreover, screens of what? main menu? dude...

you know what you want rigth? then just browse the page or ask people if they can do something specific
Seconding Danimal's request for more specific information. Like:
What medium are we talking about? 3D, rendered 3D, pixel art, vector...
What kind of art? Unit art? If so, what kind of unit? Facings? Animation(s)? Terrain art? Perspective?
What file format? .png? .bmp? What about resolution/canvas size?
It would be great if you could come up with some simple graphics to demonstrate what you want. They might be crappy, but that it would be easier for others to see what you're going for. ;)
Also, would this project be open-source?
Ok, here's the deal. i'm lucky if i can draw a smiley face that doesn't look like a cheap-hooker-smiley-face, so i don't feel ok about putting hours of effort into it.
More specificly. NOTHING is set in stone, i can integrate almost any kind of 2d graphics into what i'm doing, so IF i find someone who's interestred in cooperating, we'll decide on that kind of stuff together. Depends on what the guy can do, right?
Moreover, as i mentioned above, right now i'm working on interface controls, abstract classes and interfaces for future use, there's virtually nothing to "show". The reason is that i expect an artist to have some significant impact on what the game must look like, and most of the precoding planning i see as a two-side dialogue. Somehow I find it logical.
p.s. the reason i'm not pillaging and looting graphics all over internet is that i'd end up with a bunch of unrelated, eachother-defying, no-standarts yoo-hoo. It would be hell to just bring it all to same standarts, not to mention it would look more like afterparty apartment than anything else.
p.p.s. probably i should have started with this post
edit: p.p.whatever.p.s. About it being open source. As far as i can see it is definitely going to be completely free of charge, BUT most likely not-open-source.
Ok, here goes some advice:
You are being too defensive and agresive agaisnt people who just got interested in your project and wanted to help.
You want to recruit someone to help with art without specifying anything, you are not going to find anyone that way, explain in detail what you need (or close) and maybe make a concept (mspaint is fine), you need character models?, terrain?, just a single example will go a long way.
"any kind of 2d graphics" is not an option, artist have different styles and they will only help you if they feel what you are doing is worthy, and even then YOU are the one to provide a guideline for the models, YOU are the one with the game vision, otherwise expect to have an artist that will fetch you anything he wants or lose interest midway.
If you cant do any of the above, spent more time programming, do a prototipe using whatever placeholder you can get and then ask for help along with it, you will have far more chances since your game will be over the "im gonna make a game!" phase (which everyone around here is far too used to already), and you will have a clear idea of what you need/want, effort attracts more effort.
You may use all resources on battle for wesnoth as placeholders, also, they rock hard.
Nevermind people, I already found someone on a different board and we just started working. Sorry for wasting your time, guess I was looking in the wrong place.
More like you werent putting any effort looking here, good luck on your project
I'd love to help, as I like to play games, but when given no input there's limited possible outcomes that will statisfy the directors. You didn't really give anything for us to make.
Hold the frickin phone, did you say closed source? Nevermind. I would hate to make 40,000 3D boxes for 40,000 never made games. Making individual assest for one time use games. ISHYGDDT.
Iconoclast, open/closed source limitation i was talking about was about CODE, not about art. Should have mentioned that too.
