Hi,
As I have still quite low skills in pixel art, I'd like to commission someone to create a white wolf boss enemy for my 2D RPG using side-view battles - Valyria Tear. Here is the current monster draft:
The proposed art shouldn't be based on this but rather on more fearsome creature, more alla Fenrir, a good (and proprietary) example:
Also, depending on your pricing, I might also request this.
Have not one monster image, but four: Each one representing a higher level of damage received. I.e.:
1. Normal, ready to attack
2. Slightly hurt
3. Mediumly hurt
4. Highly hurt.
Feel free to post here so we can discuss the price, and the art style details.
If we can come up to an agreement, I'd like the image(s) to be posted here in a lossless format licensed as CC-by-SA 3.0 with your authorship.
Thanks for reading and best regards, :)
Hello,
This looks relevant to my interests. It would probably be a bit time-consuming, but it could work. What price range were you thinking? Also, would you be open to dual-licensing under CC-By (this would help it be license-compatible with the larger set I've been working on.
Hi Redshrike, :)
CC by 3.0/CC by SA 3.0 Dual licensing is perfectly fine to me.
As for the price, it will depends on the level of details you'll put in the sprite(s). it could be up to 70-80$ each if it can reach the detail level of BlackCat for instance:

Just post me an (even unrelated) example with a first price proposal, and we'll be able to start negociating about it.
I would be glad to conclude a commission with you. That one, or another one later. ;)
Best regards,
Hi Bertram,
I'd love to help you out with your bosses. The Fenrir idea would be really fun, and I would be fine working just under a standard work-for-hire (as in i make your stuff, you keep the rights). I imagine that you also need sprites for the beast? If so, what kinds do you need and how many?

I am an experienced 2D game artist and concept artist, with a focus in environments and backgrounds. I have experience making art assets for several shipped games, in which I worked as a contracted artist for different game studios or indie devs. I’ve also created many in-game props, concepts, sketches, characters, UI, splash screens, sprite sheets, buttons, etc.
Several clients have remarked at how they love my dedication to their projects, and at how easy I am to work with. Although I’m easy-going and flexible, I pride myself on being able to handle tight budgets and deadlines. I studied Illustration at BYU (and at one point architecture), where I received a strong traditional foundation. After college, I moved to China for 3 years, picked up Mandarin, wrote a novel, and began my freelance illustration career that continues to this day. Thank you for your valuable time and consideration. I’m excited to hear back from you!

Just a note: if you're after digitally painted assets like BlackCat or PK's, my tablet is in another city, so I can't help there. Just pure pixel art at the moment. Depending on the resolution you're after, it may be more affordable to go with digital painting since it doesn't scale quite the same as pixel art. Do you have a good idea of what size you need?
@Redshrike: Hi,
If painterly style might be a problem for you, I might have something actually in pixel art, completely not related to this work. We can discuss this by mail, if you're interested. :)
About the actual size, I'll need to replace this sprite with a slightly taller version, that I can downsize from a even wider work, of course:

@PK Illustration: Hi, if Redshrike prefers the other tyupe of job (the pixel art one), I'd be happy to work with you with a concern about your pricing when seeing the professional quality you put in your portfolio.
How much would you charge me for one, or the four frames requested, in a fitting painterly style?
@both:
As for the sprites, I sorta got fitting ones for now:
https://github.com/Bertram25/ValyriaTear/blob/master/img/sprites/map/ene...
But anyway, how much would you charge for idle and running frames of the same size.
Best regards,
@Redshrike: Hi, Do you need more time to answer?
@Bertram:
So how many actions / sprite sets are you looking for? A running sprite set and an attacking sprite set, both side view? And possibly 4 variations of damage on those same sprites?
Is that price of $75 for one sprite set (such as "attack set"), or for how many?

@PK Illustration:
As for the map sprite, the wolf needs an idle (standing) frame for each 4 base directions, and a running animation for each directions, too.
Note that this one isn't my priority as I could do even them myself based on what I requested first :)
As for the battle attack frames, I need at the very least one, looking left in a fearsome attack pose, and up to four (with the different hurt states I mentionned above).
Those frames are my first paid request, and I think we should discuss the standing and running sprite part only after that.
If you can come with a fully detailled painterly version of the attack frames, I'm ready to pay $75 each. :)
Best regards,
Ok, sounds good - I can do that. Let's do the attack frames first then, yeah?
Shoot me an email at patthompson008@gmail.com and we'll iron out the details.
Thanks!
Patrick

Sorry about the slow response here. I had a three alarm exam today (that is, stay up until 3, set three alarms). Fortunately this is nicely followed by a good smooth patch.
Yeah, I really can't do anything on the digital painting front without my tablet. But I would definitely be interested in doing pixel art for the game. Discussion either via email (through my profile is easiest) or here in the thread is fine for me.
Hi both,
@PK Illustration/Patrick,
I'll email you shortly but anyway consider we have a deal. :)
@Redshrike:
I'm fine about you making paid pixel art for the game :)
I'll also email you through the contact form asap.
Best regards,
@PK Illustration/Patric,
