I have created a game titled "Residue". It is a simple offline FPS with two-player splitscreen; USB joystick compitable. Beta version 1.0 is out now at the bottom address; with a free demo. For 1.1 I was going to implement a screenshot function (I currently have it working, but unreleased). There should be a cue for the screenshot, but text is so dirty, I want a sound fx. Perferably under the cc0 licence, but it will be used in all of my games with a screenshot function. I have released the sfx from Residue under a cc0 licence, and will probably release most sounds and textures under the same licence as I get out of beta.
The sound should be a simple click and short whirr, like an old, high-powered, film camera. You remember those, right?
Don't assume I can pay you, I haven't sold a single game and I do not have employment for awhile.
Thanks for reading.
I think I was looking for such a sound under the same license (EDIT: 'terms' rather) on Freesound a few weeks ago but couldn't find any.
Why is it important to you that the sounds are under cc0 terms? Is keeping track of authorship a problem when art is under Attribution license for you?
Not really, but I do not have credits in my game yet, and I tend to be forgetful. I just didn't want someone to be offended if I forgot. If your name is on the soundfile it will remain when added to the game.

Hi, the screenshot tool I'm using has a sound like this, the code is open source, not sure about the sound, but you could contact the developers and ask them. http://getgreenshot.org/
Thank you riidom, I'll try that. I cannot contact them, here is my best-effort.

camera.ogg 8.1 Kb [177 download(s)]
I found this: http://soundbible.com/563-Camera-Shutter-Click.html though if used it requires attribution to Mike Koenig
I also found quite a few here: http://www.soundjay.com/camera-sound-effect.html and http://www.soundjay.com/polaroid-camera-sound-effect.html
Those are no under an open source license as such, though are probably fine for your usage, terms extract - 'You are allowed to use the sounds free of charge and royalty free in your projects (such as films, videos, games, presentations, animations, stage plays, radio plays, audio books, apps) be it for commercial or non-commercial purposes.' though they can't be redistributed as just sounds or used in applications made solely for the sound effects etc...
Full terms of use here: http://www.soundjay.com/tos.html
good luck with your game project

Thanks Scribe, your suggestion is helpful. I actually made one myself and uploaded it here ( http://opengameart.org/content/camerashudder ), but it is not that good.
