Hello everyone, this is Aryan and I am new to this forum. I am creating a platformer with Platypus as the main character. The game is set in a snowy hilly area and I am looking for a background. I really liked no.1 and no.5 in this image: http://opengameart.org/sites/default/files/backgrounds.jpg
But they are not side scrolling backgrounds. So can anyone recommend me a background for my game which is side scrolling?
And another thing, I tried finding sprites of Platypus but I couldn't find anyone which is not Perry. So I tried creating my own (image attatched). Can anyone improve it?
And finally, I also tried creating a logo for my game but it has outline problems. Can anyone fix it as well? (image attatched).
I cannot pay you but I will give you credits.
anyone?
Hello :) I can try to come up with something in the weekend if you are still interested.
I draw for fun and I'm not looking for job.
I already have one ;)
Sorry for the late reply but I am still interested. I worked out the logo thing and I only need a suitable background for my game. And if you can improve the platypus sprite, it would be greatly appreciated.
As for the backgrounds - you can always flip the images and they will then join to each other seamlessly.
I have uploaded an example here, but I would take the original image and flip it in code.
This might be a little 2 repetitive for you, but it works as a continuous picture at least.
After all - the player should be concentrating on the action in the foreground after all :D

Great Idea! Thanks for telling me that. Now only if I could get a platypus sprite....
And can anyone tell me how the new logo looks? (Image Attatched)

I created this for you, I am not an artist - so I found a public domain image and made the background transparent - showed a color overlay etc.
Platypus
Sorry that I can't give you an animated sprite - I'm a really bad artist - but perhaps this can be the base for you or an artist to work with?
Awesome work! I really appreciate your work for me. Its not exactly what I wanted but I will try to improve it and make it in my style. Thanks! And can you give me some criticism on the logo. I made another version of it. Can you tell me which is better?
EDIT: Well, I modified the platypus a lot and now it looks very horrible, but it suits my game's design. I am still open to any changes in the sprite.

Actually I like the modifications you made. :)
I will make you a contributor to the platypus entry (link in my previous post) and you can upload your versions to it if you like?
The 2nd logo looks good with transparency.
Ok then, add me. I will also upload my versions to it as I need to make many more changes to the sprite like changing the legs etc.
All in all, a lot of thanks for your help. I never expected that someone will help me after one month passed with no reply. Thank you!
Done - Hopefully you will find an artist who can help though - instead of a dev guy. :)
This site is great for resources - but for active art communities and getting help etc. Some of these might be better for that:

If you do ask for help on those forums - perhaps upload some of the original attempts - as this will not only show your original intent/style but encourage them to help.

Thanks for them!
As one of the few lucky people on earth to have seen wild platypi in the snowy mountains, i thought i should take up this challenge. I'd point out that in reality every platypus i have ever seen was wet and much darker than this, and that contrary to their usual cute portayal, they are quite dangerous since they are actually venomous.

Wow! animation and parts!
Looks great!
As nice as the backgrounds above are, they don't really look anything like the Snowy Mountains where platypi live. I've also made a background which more closely reflects the Australian high country.

A lot, lot and a lot of thanks to you. These sprites look better than my horrible sprite in each and every way! Thanks for the background also.
