Hi all,
While wondering and wandering through cyberspace, I came across/discovered kickstarter. This happened several weeks ago. I have been enjoying going there and knowing how people have been raising funds for their own creative pursuits. Its something like OGA but a different business model. As a casual gamer I was attracted to their games section and found few entries which I was unable to comprehend or didn't understand. Can somebody explain me the following ones :-

Now I'm totally clueless about all the above. Are the above the same 'design document' that the Anonymous is/was talking about in the Writer's corner/forum ? If yes, are there any publically available design document free, free as in beer to download and read/understand ?
I was preplexed by two things :-
a. I couldn't understand the concepts ?
b. People are paying/funding quite a bit for these things above. If it was some game that's understood but this was out of my understanding.
Just in case you are wondering, this is no kickstarter ad and I have not been paid in any way from kickstarter. Just want to know what they are.

All of these projects are for tabletop games, mostly role-playing games. Think Dungeons and Dragons. Heck, Lemuria and WorldBreakers are for D&D.
*Be Part Of Tabletop Gaming History: Essentially, rereleasing a map used for a tabletop miniatures game.
*Lemuria: I'm guessing funding the publishing of a world book for D&D.
*Gaming Paper Adventures: Map stuff for use with RPGs and miniatures games.
*WorldBreakers: Pre-made villains for D&D.

I have heard the term Dungeons and Dragons or D&D but don't really know/understand what it is. Is it a game? Is it a set of rules by which one plays or by which some kind of games are made, essentially Role-Playing Games or what ? I asked because almost all the times I have of D&D is in somewhere in relation to Role-Playing Games.
The second thing is what is meant by tabletop ? or tabletop games ? My weak English and literal translation would mean some game to be played on top of a regular 4 feet by 3 feet, something like table tennis but I'm guessing I'm pretty much off here.

The second one is again something I do not understand, what is this world book thing for D&D?
The third one, is that guy making some maps which he will release for free or something so other game developers can reuse them or what ?
I am sure its all a part of some culture which I have no clue about.
D&D is basically the biggest and most definitive tabletop RPG, and tabletop in this case means it's played by a group of people sitting around a table with various books of rules and sheets detailing characters, settings, adventures/situations, and so on.

The "Ruins of Lemuria" seems to be like that, containing a setting and framework for a game. I don't know of any free ones, but it seems like there should be somewhere. A lot of roleplaying gamers come up with their own stories, characters, settings, adventures, etc., and I'm sure there are some on the internet if you know where to look.

every player has a character sheet, one of the guys is the game master, its all pure descriptive, he tells how the scenery looks like, the players describe their actions, rulesets and dices help to manage various situations. Its also called pen&paper
man, that really is crazy. No wonder than people like RPG's .
