Here is a small list of good sites to publish and find open source music.
I found them searching for some pages to publish my open-source music on, besides OpenGameArt. (I would love to see it used in films as well)
A community project with quality music licensed as CC-BY-SA and some CC0 pieces.
You can create an account and submit your own music if you want, too.
Actually the page of a single musician, but I had to include his page.
He has an extensive, quality archive of music and pretty nice tools to find the music you are looking for (all CC-BY). Tip: be sure to change "Vocal Songs" to "Instrumental Songs", so you get the version more usable for games (well except you want the lyrics ^^).
This is an interesting project focusing at creating an open-source community that use each others samples and vocals to create songs.
The music pieces are licensed as CC-BY, CC-BY-NC and CC0.
I also uploaded my music to archive.org. However, if you're looking for music for your projects to use, it's not that good of a platform - it's more of a digital library.
I hope you found my little compilation helpful. Are there any sites you would add to the list?
These are really great resources, thanks for sharing. The first one especially has some content that I really liked, but Josh Woodward's stuff was really incredible too. Ccmixter was confusing to navigate (yep, I officially sound old), so I wasn't able to find as much. But I'll keep poking around.
