Hello , just a quick post.
I am obsessed with the x-com games for 18years so naturaly when i heard about a opensource remake i got alittle excited.
What i have done is been modding the orignal soilder sprites into differnt human civilians ( that can carry guns) i have a few different types now for the battlescape but i really need inventory pictures for each unit type ( incase someone mindprobes them). Problem is i can make the battlescape sprites without any real talent , (i just replace the colour that is there with a new one and create a new sprite) but i dont think i will have the talents to make the UNITs inventory images.
If anyone is interested in helping me out it would be greatly appreciated . i will be back on later tonight ro show what i have done

Cant you use photoshop color replacement and saturation? that would be the easiest if they are stored as some kind of image (which i suppose is true)
No i cant just you a colour and replace as they need to be completly different to the example above as there got different cloths and style. Attached is 2 GANGs in my collection , both still need work to get right but i would love a inventory image that brings them to life. The only reason i was able to change the sprites was because theres only a small number of pixels, the inentory images are to complex for me to draw anything that looks good.
There is the possability that i could pay the artist alittle something for his work , what is a fair rate ? I would of liked to get these for free as they are of no finiancial benifit to anyone:( There would be atleast 6 of these all up. Finish product must match original games feel , also game has limited colour pallet so must be compatable. If your interested ilet me know.
Would be nice to make something for ALL the aliens later also , but first things first , lets focus on the humans.
You are looking for a pixel artist then, sorry but i cant help there, try the 2d forum, also there are many projects trying to redo the original Xcom, you should have a look at their assets.
Yes i tried contacting the email addy of XCOM TTS but no responce, that project was abanadoned so i was hopeful i could at least look at the art from it, but i cant find a download anywhere for the game.
So any Pixel artist want to help , you would have my eternal gratitude :)
Also i am unsure IF i am allowed to make a second art request in the 2d section , so for now i will hold off. I have tried emailing 1 or 2 talented members but also no responce. Maybe noone love the classic Xcom as much as i do :(

Just get some photos of military guys on the net, change color to make them more cartoonish and use any of the above, surprise us ;)
I tried a differnt approach , i tried scaling up a battlescape sprite, lets just say its on par with the one i tried to draw by hand :(
Some of those links where interesting, i tried the pixilise one with a picture of a sailor , still it did not look very good :(
