Hi,
has anyone heard about the Google DemoSlam? Well basicly people, any people make videos of what kinds of cool things you can do with Google's products. I'd like to make an anime-like, a couple minutes long animation which I will translate into Japanese with Google Translator.
So can I use some audio from here if I display all of the artists names in the credits? And if not, does anyone know a page similiar to this where I could legally get some musics and sound effects?
Hello!
The answer is yes but
If the license is cc0/pd you can do what you want with the art (I'd encourage you to give credit to the artists or opengameart at least :) )
If the license is gpl or ccbysa (or lgpl and you make changes to the art itself) you might need to license the whole video under sthe same license (ask a lawyer) AND you need to give credit to the artists
If the license is anything else, you need to give credit to the artist.
Hope this short answer helps rather than confuses :)
Wow, thanks so much!
That was way more useful than confusing! :)
Very glad to hear that! I forgot to tell one thing: GPL and CCBYSA and LGPL also require crediting the artists (I added the info to the post above)
Public domain and WTFPL don't require anything though. :D

Just to clarfy something regarding GPL/CC-BY-SA:
When you include elements in a video that are GPL and CC-BY-SA, you *absolutely must* release the video under those licenses as well. This is because, unlike a game (where it's a bit of a grey area since the works are still separable) a video is one single work that you can't easily take apart. So to be safe, be prepared to either not use GPLed and CC-BY-SA content in your video or release all of your source files.
