Hey there!
I can think of some games that lack that 'success' audio moment, when you win a battle, finish a race 1st or level up! Here are a few games that need such sounds/short music tracks or could use fresh material:
Fall of Imiryn - Winning a battle, levelling up..
Hex-a-Hop - When finishing a puzzle.. (edit: just to get an idea)
Slime Volley - Scoring a point [vid].. (replacement needed)
SuperTuxKart might also be missing 'race won' tracks..
Voice lines like "Yeah!" or "Score!" would also be awesome!
If anybody knows some 'rules for writing fanfare music' article, I'm also interested :)
Hey Q,
that is a nice list, but I am pretty sure that Hex-a-Hop has a sound/melody when finishing a puzzle :P
I'm not huge on music theory, but I used to play the trumpet (and, by extension, the bugle, which is essentially a trumpet without valves). Bugles are great for playing fanfares, because they're limited to a certain set of notes that are fitting for them:
C4, G4, C5, E5, G5, B-flat5, C6, D6, E6, etc
A simple fanfare-like progression of two notes would be G4 -> C5.
Now, obviously fanfares aren't *limited* to these notes, but basing your fanfares around them will generally lead to good results.
DING!
