Hi!
I've started working on new hats for the LPC character.
The first helmet is adapted from a helmet in DCSS. It's a quick prototype, the colors need to be fixed.
The two others are original creations. Any advice would be appreciated! :)
I have doubts for the shading of the knot on the straw hat. Which one do you prefer 1 or 2?
I prefer version 1.
OK! There is also shading 3 that looks like the left of the knot of 1 but symmetric.
Yes, symmetric is better I think. (Not sure.)
Strangely on the Desktop PC the versions look all the same. On my smartphone they look different. Strange...
Greetings
Peter
3 is also my new favorite.
Thank you for the feedback! :)
Some suggestions... (didn't edit the first hat, that one looks great). My edits CC0.
- For straw, tried to add a more deliberate texture pattern but also emphasize the light source more strongly. Also made the bow strap thing slighly less straight
- For pointy hat, applied some band compression, could probably use a bit more work
- For bow, I'd recommend outlining the whole thing (see my edit). Outlines (including internal outlines in many cases) should be the default for any LPC in my opinion; it helps give the object more definition and makes it feel less flat.
Looks great overall, by the way! Nice work, these would be great to have in the collection! Let me know if you need/want help placing them on the spritesheets.
Thanks bluecarrot16 for the suggestions, I will rework my hats with your edits! :)
I was inspired yesterday and made more prototypes and experiments.
I tried to made headbands for magicians with talismans and gems. They are meant to be under the hair so that it should work with most of the hair assets.
I also tried to make antlers to make druid characters. The first one is derived from the deer in [LPC] bears, deer, lions and more by tapatilorenzo. The second one is original and I made an alternative with small leaves.
What do you think of these?
@bluecarrot16 To generate the full spritesheets, I can use your lpctools and follow the example given for the hair?
Headbands and antlers look nice!
And yes, that is what I had in mind! Just let me know if I can be of any help.
One last experiment before I start polishing and drawing the other views of previous headgear.
I tried to make a new cloth hood which would fit mages or druids better than wulax's one.
I think the shape is decent, maybe it could be less symmetrical. But I have a hard time shading it. Here are my different attemps:
Let me know which one you prefer or if you have any advice! :)
