Hey,
I've been developing a game idea for a demo. I'm just wondering if there are any people interested in working on the project with me. It's a pretty big project, but it can be completed with time. I'm thinking of using the UDK for it. I've been messing around with it a bit, and it's well documented.
While building the demo I'd like to be community building, and working on getting views up through videos, tutorials, and other means of community building.
After the demos don’t the next step is to set up a funding account on GoGoIndie. After that start contacting every media outlet that can be found to promote the demo, and funding campaign. If the funding pulls through I'd like to to go into making the game full time.
It's a big project, and I know even the demo will take a lot of time, but I'm still up for it.
- outline -
It's a first person shooter set in space, as well as various planets. The year is 4048, and earth is nearly uninhabitable. Human's have a militant space organization called Omega. They went out into the galaxy to find a new planet, but what they found was war. An alien race known as the Cybrins have been conquering the galaxy assimilating other races. They're whole creatures with robotic parts, animated flesh with bionics, computerized clones, and synthetic flesh run by a computer system. Their origins is unknown. Rumors say they were a thriving race of great technological advancement, but when they had tragedy upon tragedy, sickness upon sickness befall them they started using computerized parts. They didn't stop at arms, and legs, but also used computerized parts in their brains. Anything to keep their race alive. Rumors also say that they were infected by some virus, and have know spread out into the galaxy to add others to their existence.
-Demo-
Where I'm starting at ground 0 with this project I know the demo will have to be a little simpler than the entire game, so that it can be achieved by a smaller team. In the demo the Omega 7 team goes to a barren planet where a main Cybrin base has been posted. They're there to cut off the Cybrin link to their mainframe.
They'll have to travel through blast enemies, make through a number of doors guarded by the viscous Cybrin.
There's a lot going into this game, and even the demo contains a lot, but it's only going to contain outside terrain, and no interior, but there is a lot of character models, and other models that are going to have to be accounted for. It's not something to complete over night by a long shot, but if anyone is interested in working on it with me I'd love to have others join.
My skill level with the UDK has been quite minimal, but a lot of whats needed is already there, and for a free demo, most all the assets inside the UDK can be used.
I'm looking for anyone and everyone to join with the demo. It would be a good portfolio builder if it comes to completion, even still it will be a fun project, and I have to plan on giving up on it.
I have a lot more written. If anyone's interested let me know :)
On a side not I started working with the first landscape in UDK. It's still on it's first iteration, but it's going alright. It's a barren planet surface with a mountain area, and trench which leads towards the road that goes up into the mountains.
definitely have a long road ahead of me, lol.
Love to have anyone who would be interested in helping. I don't mind using free art from the site in the demo, and hopefully if the project gets funded be able to swap it out with fresh art.
I guess the main things I could use help with are digital based images. Maybe someone who could make an image that makes it look like the planet is going on forever. Something I could put at the edge of the map with a blocking volume.
Aslo could use help tweaking some models that I've collected. I'd love to have people that would be interested in working full time on the demo, and community building, and see what happens when it comes to media, promoting, and running a funding campaign.
I'm really eager to get this project going, so if anyone is interested let me know.
Also interested in having a writer join the team to help finish the story with me :)
All welcome. Gonna be a good time, starting up a forum, writing a game, working on a demo, I'll do up some tutorials on different things to help community build, what ever works, lol.
I've refined my goals for the scenes to make it more achievable for a small team to develop. Instead of hoping for full blown cinematic scenes, which would be nearly impossible for a small team, the cinematic scenes could be voice acted comics.
