Hey. I really love this game! A lot of fun. it is my most favorite game type. I just have a few suggestions of personal taste. I am playing the newest version and it just needs a little extra.
1.more difficult. less coin drop. you can fall to your death crossing bridges. lose half xp when u die in regular mode.
2.more levels to the powers. like in ranger powers make the muti shot 3 arrows on level 1 and add another arrow every time u level it to make it more powerful. i am finding i have a lot of extra powers points i am not using because of powers i dont want or will not use.
3. make ranged weapons lose a little power over distance.
4.more levels to the character. is it 5 or 6? that is not enough. I like to min-max to death. so give me like 20 levels on each.
5. maybe only give 1 power point for the first 4 levels and then 1 for every 2 levels after that?
6.make it more difficult for the ranger, but also give the ability to min max very high and become a god.
TrentS,
The current game is an alpha demo, showing off the capabilities of the engine, rather than being a full featured game.
That said, thanks for playing :)
There are alternative mods, which may come closer to your ideas, such as
https://github.com/igorko/flare-mod-noname
http://github.com/makrohn/polymorphable
Adding the mods you suggested is not straightforward for many users.
Really users should not need to add mods to /usr which needs root access but they should be able to add them to ~/.config/flare. It should also be better described how to add mods, the flare-mod-noname states it should be added above core and alpha, it is not clear whether it should be at the top of the list i.e. above or at the bottom of the list i.e. overriding the others. I found it needs to be in the middle, at the top does nothing at the bottom prevents tile display.
Polymorph does describe install better but then it should be the only mod installed.
I have some other comments forming about the engine and once I have checked out some mod codeing I will post them seperatley, I am hoping to start a mod next month, taking on board some of TrentS's comments and other things posted, The engines does need some more mods to show it off.
@Tinker
It is possible for normal users to install mods into "~/.local/share/flare/".
Mods placed at the bottom of the list have the highest priority (we should add a note to the readme, or possibly in-game). The flare-mod-noname mod is possibly out of date, since you should be able to place it at the end of the mod list and have things just work.
dorkster,
both poly as well as the unnamed mod are out of date, due to last engine fixes and such.
Maybe we should adapt those mods, just for training purpose to see if the engine is heading in the right direction?
@ Dorkster
It seemed like an Arch Linux package error but it was a user error there is a mods folder in ~/.config/flare as well. I can confirm that putting mods in the correct folder works.
