Hello everyone,

After having played Flare, I had this wacky idea a few years ago to create a version of the game set in a kind of retro urban environment of my own country, the Netherlands.
But as with most of my 'projects', once I've satisfied my curiosity in exploring the how-to's, my motivation quickly dwindles, and so I abandoned it.
I did come some way into creating a decent map and tileset though, and seeing as it is just sitting there in my comp doing nothing, I might as well share it with you folks because maybe someone might be able to use it to create something else.

It's been made with version 0.18 in mind. I have no idea how Flare developed since then, this stuff could be totally useless by now, but here's the way it goes:

In the Flare folder is a mods folder. Create a folder called retro_urban_dutch inside that moda folder. Inside that retro_urban_dutch folder, create another folder called maps.
Now, inside that maps folder, you place the files retro_urban_dutch.txt, and spawn.txt, which I attached to this post.
It seems I can't post files in this forum with a txt extention, so I've given them an svg extention instead (like that wouldn't pose any threat), but anyway, change svg into txt to make it work.

In that same mods folder of Flare is a folder called fantasycore. Inside that folder is a folder called tilesetdefs. Place the file tileset_urbandutchretro.txt inside that folder. Again, I've changes the txt extention into svg, you'll have to change it back to txt for it to work.

In that same fantasycore folder is another folder called images, and inside that images folder is a folder called tilesets. Place the new_tileset1024x1280.png file in there.

You have to forgive me for not remembering how I got it to load in game, but I'm sure you guys know how to do that.
One of the fun challenges I put for myself was to try and remove the black holes on the map, so it would seem like a more immersive environment.
