The water is animated in 3 frames. I tried an animated flame too.

I thought using these animations in my 'bullets hell' game, but regarding benchmarks I did on my 1.6GHz pc, I am afraid that I can't do. That's unforntunate...

As I said on my own 'show off your project' thread, I will use my splashouille framework which is based on the SDL and libconfig libraries (both under LGPL).

I made a new game powered with the 'splashouille' library: gemgem (a bejeweled-like).

The main idea was to test how the framework handles the mouse interactions (and not to make an original game, obviously). Sources (under GPL3) can be found on my github. Some screenshots :

As i did for Titrus, I used my own graphics but pick some really nice musics here (byzantine-loop for example). By the way, I didn't find any glass shatter sound. Does someone know where I may find one?

Next game will be a 'shoot them up' game (a 'bullet hell' I guess) for the liberated pixel cup.

@Anonymous

I am not sure I can use a real character as inspiration for a GPL licensed art. So just call him 'Richard'.

@Redshrike

Great idea. IMO every weekly challenges should be based on that point.

Hi Redshrike.

About the photos as reference, the point is a little bit tricky.

Currently, I only use free material. For example, the three scissors references come from wikimedia commons. But, to tell the truth, for the first objects I made, I was not so strict. However, even if I don't remember exactly where I get all the reference photographs, I am pretty sure, I never used a explicitly copyrighted stuff. But the issue is still complex.

For example, I just found one of the gems I used: here

I used this gem reference photograph thanks to the following points:

1. There is no license on the photograph, and I don't even think it is an original one (OK, that's not a really good point).

2. As I made a vectorial drawing from this reference, obviously I made it from scratch and didn't use anything from the original. The color doesn't even match.

3. I guess my work matches the four definition points of the fair use

I guess I was right to use these "undefined" photographs as reference for building vectorial icons, but, I am not 100% sure. That's why, now, I really take care to choose only free (GPL or CC0) material.

Because I am not a license specialist, I'd like to know what do you think about this point?

(sorry for my english)

Hi CruzR.

Thanks for the comment.

Is there no other way for participating to the challenge than create a OGA entry ? Because I don't like the idea so much.

I'd rather not to split the icons library. It would be too complicated to do. For the moment, I only use the whole archive made by the gitHub site. It is pretty easy. If I split the library, I would have to update my first original entry as I did, but also make a new entry and a new archive with only the new stuff. Then, I guess I will have to maintain a collection to group every SVG icons entries. I can do that, but... just for 3 icon objects, I am not sure it is a valuable idea. More over, the "update" comment really matches my needs.

So I don't know what to do. For this time, may be, don't consider my entry. Next time, I will try to make more objects which can justify a real separate OGA entry.

Here is my entry: Censor's scissors

It is an update of my SVG Icons library. I don't know if it is the right thing to do but the three icons have been especially done for this contest.

Hi Toeholds. Indeed having shape/fill on different objects makes edits difficult. That's why, I didn't do anyone.

I draw shapes with Bezier's curves tool, so, for me, these shapes are like "final inking" which won't move anymore. And if sometimes I am not sure, I just draw the shape without the fill, and once the shape is good I copy it to make the fill.

The point is to never modify a shape/fill pair because it is really too boring. It is a little bit complex process, but it is the only way to make this kind of stuff :

Hi, really nice job. I'd like to use it in a game project.

For the credit, I'd like to know what is the name of this music ?
