Hello Everyone,

My name is Curtis and I’d like to consider myself an indie developer. For the past several months I have been working away during my free time on a game. It started out as an interest and has blossomed into what I would call an obsession. I have always loved playing games and often thought making one would be something I’d equally enjoy. Little did I know what was in store.

I’ve had some very basic experience with programming but nothing game related. I needed help to say the least. Luckily I stumbled upon Jamie McMahon’s “XNA 4.0 RPG Tutorials” (http://xnagpa.net/xna4rpg.php). These are very easy to read and follow along tutorials on starting your own RPG. I quickly devoured all of the available material, and just as quickly I began to discover that making a game is something I really enjoy.

This is how my current project/obsession “Sliver” was born. Sliver is a turn based strategy game similar to Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem. Currently I have about 8+ months and easily over 600 hours invested. My goal for this project first and foremost is to release a fun and enjoyable game I can be proud off. Second, (and this is more of a dream) would be to have Sliver provide me the opportunity to pursue a career as a game developer full time.

My eventual plan for Sliver is to place it onto Steam Greenlight. As of right now Sliver is still in its development phase. I hope to reach the point soon that I am able to release a demo of the first three levels.  At which time I will place it on Greenlight. I would take this opportunity to gauge interest as well as collect community feedback on Sliver. Using the information I receive to help mold a more enjoyable experience.

I would now like to take this opportunity to thank OpenGameArt.org and everyone involved. This is an amazing resource for newbie developers like myself. Sliver would never have reached this point if it wasn’t for this website. I am truly grateful for all the hard work and dedication.

If you have any questions, comments or would like to know more about Sliver please feel free to post below, PM me, or check out my thread on Jamie McMahon’s “XNA Game Programming Adventures Forum”. (http://xnagpa.net/forum//viewtopic.php?id=539)

* As a side note I am aware of the licensing issues with some of my currently used artwork (CC-BY 3.0) and the eventual release of it on Steam. I am attempting to contact the owner of any art resource I am using to gain their permission.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this lengthy post
