$12256 / $11500
I have decided to start a contest, since there has been a lack of them. The contest will run until friday morning (10:00 a.m. central time)and the voting will happen in a seperate thread until the next monday. Here are the rules:
1. Art must be a prehistoric creature (alien and *biblical creatures allowed).
2. File must be uploaded to OGA after this thread (post the link in your post).
3. It must have textures/materials.
4. Must be a 3d model openable in blender (blender can import several formats).
5. No more than 1500 vertices.
Good luck.
*leviathan and behemoth
Suggestion: put the medium in the title or at the top. You almost had me ready to enter there :(
I think I could participate if only for the recent lack of 3D-projects to do. Cool idea for a contest, really.
Always looking for composition possibilities, portfolio stuff mainly :-) send me a PM
1.5k vertex limit is pretty limiting for many applications, 5k would be a more realistic limit. If time allows I will participate.
1500 is pretty expensive on mobile devices. People create amazing stuff in hundreds of polys. Quake 3 and below used less than 1500 on average.
I'll extent the contest until next friday (since noone hasentered).

Too many restrictions and (regarding that) too few 3D artists on OGA.

Run the comp again without conditions 3-5.
I'll remove 3&4.

Are you doing this contest just for fun or because you need the models?
I don't need dinosaur models, I find the lack of 3d updated disturbing.

Here's my contribution: http://opengameart.org/content/diplodocus
I want to add spikes and teeth later, but then the poly count will probably exceed the 1500 tri limit.
Glad to see another contrib. Here is my t-rex: http://opengameart.org/content/t-rex
I waited until someone else posted, and I think it is better than mine.

Nice T. rex. Are you going to texture it? I think some comic style textures would look cool, since his shape seems to be more non-realistic as well.
I wish more people would have contributed, because I'd really like to see (and help to make) some kind of survival FPS with dinosaurs.
I'm going to be working on a card game on https://www.thegamecrafter.com, but I'm not sure if I'll finish it. I'll be looking for 2d images on here, and uploading some of my own. I'll just concede defeat since I did not have any textures, but weneed some good contests.

Here you go Facede heres mine (http://opengameart.org/content/trex)
BTW i dont think the requirements are to harsh at all. On low poly count there 1000 and I always go about 1500 to high for LPC so I only post about half on my work.
