Pixel pusher (possibly also very simple 3D) seeking misc. for PDJ.

Hi Surt,
love your work, have used it a couple of times in the past.
I've got a working one screen version of this sci-fi tileset somewhere, must upload it to my github page to show you.
Anyway, I've got an idea for a PLD game, a bit off-beat, and I would love some help with the graphics.
What I might do is post some sketches/mockups of my game idea here, and then you can decide whether or not you want to collaborate or not. Not sure that what I've got in mind suits your style.
I've done pixelart for the LPC and for a github game jam recently btw. (two games here)
All my games are browser based, HTML5 + javascript, no plugins required.
My plan for this gamejam was to do all the graphics in advance, upload them to opengameart as CC, (and let the other contestants know about them heh) and then spend the gamejam coding it all up.
That's not quite in the spirit of a gamejam (the rules allow for it), but I've got family + lots of kids + work deadlines, so there's a possibility I won't have time to complete the game.
Whew. Right, back to work. Sketch stuff later.

I'd be willing, but I can't enter the contest officially (conflict of interest and all), so my entry will be unofficial. In the unlikely event that you don't get any other offers and you don't mind not being eligible to win, I'd be up for teaming up. :)
madmarcel: Off-beat isn't really m,y thing as I am largely absent of a sense of humor, but HTHM5 is fine so long as it'll be FOSS licensed.
bart: I certainly don't have any interest in officiality or winning.
You guy's let me know what you've got in mind and I'll shoose the most eligible suitor.
If neither involve a significant burden then I could possibly do both.
My typical daily conciousness period is 20:00UTC through 12:00UTC.

Off-beat as in:
This will not be yet another rogue-clone with a knight/wizard/thief who walks step-wise from square room to square room, past eternal walls of square brick, to fight a small non-animated generic monster sprite by bumping into it.
If I wanted to make one of those I wouldn't need to do any art. There's this site I happen to know about that has loads of that stuff ;-)
And yes, FOSS source code, code will go up on my github page with appropriate license. (GPL or something else)
Lemme sketch some ideas out...

If you could add a simple 2 frame animation for enemies to your simple broad purpose tile set, that would be fantastic - there are a number of enemies that I can use in 16x16, from various sources, but they are all static, so they just... Glide on a platformer.
Simple two step animation if you're up for it!
How's that? (Excuse the programmer art ;)
Not sure if I need a pixel artist though. I kinda like this rough line B&W line art style.

madmarcel: If you want much in the way of animation then I won't be much use to you. Those characters work really well.
foz: Still plan to finish off those characters but probably not on time for the PDJ.

My proposal is a top-down 2d racing game with procedurally generated tracks.
The object would be to either win the race or destroy all of the other cars on the track, and then use experience points to purchase upgrades (top speed, acceleration, traction, armor, shields, weapon types, etc).
From the art side, the track itself would be done with vectors, so it wouldn't require special pixel art for each possible corner, etc, although we'd need details like trees, obstacles, etc. There would be multiple cars, but they would only require one single frame apiece and just be rotated. All told, I don't think it would require all that much in the way of pixel art.
bart: Single frames? Sold!
Any theme in mind? Realistic? Sci-fi?

Sci-fi.
Yes.

You reckon sprites to fit 64*64 would be a suitable pixel scale?
All vehicles traction driven for consistent physics, or hovery stuff too?
EDIT:
How about something along these lines:
Seperate sprites for weapons drawn on top of vehicle. EGA global palette.

Not to worried ally accurate physics, so use your judgment on the designs. Hovering is fine. I like what you've got so far. :)
Tried a couple of racer portraits.

Surt,
That looks awesome :)

+1 on what madmarcel said.
