I am totally new for this site and also new for game creation. I am studying Final year Information Technology and I would like to complete my Under Graduation's Final project by creating a game. But, the problem is I am not good in programming. Moreover I am not allowed to use C & C++ for my final year project( Any other language can be used). I have 7 months of time to complete my project. I would like to know what are all the tools i should download and need some basic ideas for creating a game. It is not that i should create a very difficult game. I should do something that is interesting and worth my Final year project. Please guys do help me. I am really interested in creating games!!!
Hello! Are you allowed to use the existing engines, like Löve (uses the Lua language) or Godot (uses its own language, inspired by Python)? If yes, you may find them useful. They have a lot of boiler-plate code, so you don't have to focus on getting a window on the screen, and can instead work on the game logics. If you like Python, you may try Pygame. It's only for Python 2, though, but it's pretty well-documented.
If you need ideas for your games, why not try one of the random idea generators (one, two, three, four, five, six)? I know, they're stupid, but they can be a fuel for your creativity. Just use them as a starting point. Or, if you are interested in a video game that tells us about something in an interactive way, you can start with what you want to tell instead, as suggested in this article, and build a game around the ideas you want to share.
Hi, there! Game Developer here! There's alot of completely tools out there that you can use for making Games! And the first thing that came to my mind is Unity Engine! This engine is completely free as long as you are not making tons of money from your game which is actually a great deal for you since you're just making a personal Game! Here's the link to it.
The languages that can used in Unity are C# and Javascript. You can choose either of the one and you are grand! As for the assets, this site offers alot of free graphics and audio asset which you can use without paying anything in the present or the future. Just check the license of the asset you are about to use to see the limitations to it to avoid being in any sort of trouble.
There's also lots of tutorial about the Unity Engine in youtube.
As for the ideas, sorry I can't help you there. Me, myself, is currently out of game ideas.
Hi jaze,
If your good in c++ python will be somewhat easy to learn its a very similar syntax but python misses the complicated stuffs like pointers while you still can embed c and c++ code if you have to optimize your program.
For Interface Kivy, unity(i did not use it but i did read there are ways to get it working with python) or Iron Python + Silverlight.
For the game depends sure how much time you have and what you want to make.
how about something like this:
