Would anyone like me to give a shot to animating their drawn pixelart or low res character? You know; just for the fun of it.
Post it in the fashion of this if you would be so kind though-

Animations: Walking, Jumping, Dying, Flying, Eating brains
Just for the sake of consistancy; and I will probably only do about a character a day; (if even) as it is incredibly a time consuming endeavor; and I cannot promise that the animations will be AAA quality.

Well clearly it seems nobody cares for free work. Oh well.

I won't pretend to speak for anyone else, but for me at least it's not so clear what exactly you're offering.
However, if you're interested in contributing something more generally useful, I think additional animations for the LPC base assets would be very useful. They lack a jumping animation, for instance.
Only allowed one day to respond? I guess I should start checking this site more than 5 days a week.
Like Evert said, the LPC could use the jumping animation for all the creatures. For starters, all the guys in this set: http://opengameart.org/content/lpc-medieval-fantasy-character-sprites
That would be awesome.

Not really going to touch anything with GPL license unless it's the actual content creator asking. And I agree; making animated versions of those fantasy sprites would be awesome, but they could use way more than just jumping to be useful. And to Evert; I mean just setting up animations for someones character or whatever; for example; just randomly I animated this persons spider.

It's dual licensed under CC-BY-SA. You could release the animations under CC-BY-SA as well. Yes, no, yes?

I think you need to abide by all attached license unfortunately.

Fortunately, that is definitely incorrect. You may choose whichever license you want from the ones listed.

Oh well then that's excellent. Guess I'm going to listen to some music and look into that.
Edit: Upon further consideration; I've come to the conclusion that I would have to be crazy to spend my afternoon making module clothes pieces. I love module clothes and equipment; but I do not love making them to sync up with an animation in large numbers.

Alas, you have to expect delays in forum responses here.
Doing LPC animations is definitely a pretty big time investment, though of course you can always just expand the base and say others can expand the equipment. It might even work. But it's probably not something you'd want to jump right into off the bat.
I do have a random, non-animated sprite which is pretty basic if you'd like to have a go. He's located here: http://opengameart.org/content/15-minute-character-sprite
Not necessarily the best, but it's an option. Walking or running would probably be a good start, though any animation at all would probably be beneficial.
Alright; I think I'll give him the type of animations you would see in an arcade side-scrolling beat-em-up just because he looks absolutely perfect for one.
I'll stay on it in the morning though; way too tired to be picking at pixels right now; I'll post a sheet of anims once he's done. (or gifs, either one works; although gifs are funner to look at on the forums)

I would definitely not suggest updating LPC asset clothes. Just the base would be quite enough work at 4 facings, and that's before considering male and female sprites (so 8 in total). Colour variations could be ignored as could skeletons/orcs/lizardfolk.
People with limited pixel-art skills are rather more likely to update clothing for their particular need (it's easier) than they are to do a from-scratch animation. Likewise, updating the colour variations is fairly straightforward (but tedious) as is updating the orcs from the base assets. I think the same goes for lizardfolk; skeletons are more difficult but less useful because they are less likely to be player characters.
If you don't want to do it that's of course fine (it's your time to invest in what you want, afterall) but for me personally (and I'm sure for others as well) updated LPC sprites would be much more useful than arbitrary other sprites because I use the LPC bases to build my own characters. I don't make my own because the LPC assets are simply better than what I could do myself, even with the limitations they have. Mostly, I miss idle animations, pickup/drop animations and jump animations; some of the attack animations look a bit weird as well (sword slash/stab for instance) but that's not such a major issue.
Anyway, just my thoughts on the subject...
If I was to just do the base body that could be more realistic than me going and arting each article of clothing lol. But today I'm chopping up and sewing back together a poor leprechaun.

Poof, It's done.
I'm not entirely sure why there's a black background. I might actually maybe make a module type character base using him as a basis just to make him more useful.
