[Closed] ReTux Graphical Improvements

So, my game, ReTux, is getting close to completion:

http://retux.nongnu.org

So I think it's time I get rid of the graphical defects remaining in the game. I don't have the ability to do this myself, so I'm looking to pay some graphical designers to do this work.

This is not just one single job, but five distinct jobs. If you are interested in doing one of these jobs, please send me an email (onpon4@riseup.net) and let me know which job you are interested in doing. I have given an estimate for approximately what I suppose I'll be paying for each job, but these are negotiable.

Payment can be done through Paypal for sure. Bitcoin or a wire transfer are also possibilities I'm willing to try.

The graphics you will be improving are under the GNU GPL, so you must release your improved version under the GNU GPL as well. Given this, to make the process as smooth as possible: by doing any of these jobs, unless you explicitly indicate otherwise, you agree to permit me to distribute your improved version of the respective graphical asset(s) under the terms of the GNU General Public License version 3 or any later version once you have received the agreed-upon payment.

I should also note that ReTux is an entirely libre game, so even if you turn out not to be bound by the terms of the GNU GPL, your work will need to be released under a libre license for it to be acceptable. Should this circumstance occur, I highly recommend you use the GNU GPL anyway, simply to prevent gratuitous license incompatibilities. However, the following licenses are also acceptable: CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA, GNU LGPL.

All of these jobs involve improving the images found in this archive (If you're on Windows, use a third-party archive manager such as 7-zip to extract its contents):

With all of that out of the way, on to the jobs I need done...

Tile Errors (Done)

This one is pretty simple at its most basic level: some of the tiles in ReTux don't tile very well. Most are good, but there are some defects in the snow and castle tilesets, which can be found under "images/tiles" in the archive above.

It's difficult to explain problems with tiling in words, so I have prepared a GIMP XCF file showing where the defects are:

http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/retux/misc/retux_bad_tiling.xcf

Red circles indicate defects that I consider to be unacceptable, while yellow circles indicate minor defects. (The circles are in a separate layer so that you can see the defects more closely if need be.)

This should be obvious, but just to be perfectly clear, I'm not looking for corrections to that particular image. I'm looking for corrections to the tiles. This means that each tile should be modified accordingly, without adding any new tiles, and you should be able to get a seamless image by putting them in the appropriate locations.

Estimated pay: $80

Proper Rusty Spring Animation (Done)

The current "rusty spring" animation can be found under "images/objects/spring" in the archive above. You can also see the regular (non-rusty) spring in this same directory, for comparison. As you can see, the regular spring has a proper animation for compressing, while the rusty spring just has the fully expanded image scaled down, which is rather ugly. Simple job: I just want the animation to be done better. This could be re-drawing the entire thing, or it could just be applying a sort of "rustiness" effect to the properly animated normal spring image. I have no particular restrictions on how it looks, except that it ought to still look like a variation on the regular spring image (mostly so that players will recognize it as a variant of the regular spring).

Estimated pay: $80

Flying Spiky Frozen Sprite (Done)

Pretty simple: ReTux currently lacks a "frozen" sprite for the flying spiky enemy, which is found under "images/objects/enemies" in the archive above. I would like one drawn. To get an idea of what it should look like, see the frozen sprite for spikies, another enemy in the game:

As you can see, it's basically colored blue, with some sort of frost added. Your frozen version of the flying spiky should look similar and in particular ought to be the same colors, but it doesn't have to be exact.

Estimated pay: $20

Brick Break Sprite (Done)

Well, it's called a "brick" internally, but it's actually a crate. It's found under "images/objects/bonus" in the archive above.

This is probably the easiest job out of all of these: I would like a crate piece sprite, to be used as a particle that gets thrown into the air when the crate is broken -- kind of like the broken brick sprites in the Mario games. I think it should probably be a size of about 12x12 or possibly 8x8. No animation is necessary.

Estimated pay: $10

Ice Bullet Shatter Sprite (Done)

When the ice bullet, which is found under "images/misc" in the archive above, hits a wall or enemy, it currently just disappears, which is kind of lame. I want it to produce a sort of shatter effect, with shards of ice dissipating.

The "shatter" sprite should be about the same size and colors as the ice bullet sprite, and should be animated. The animation should be made to last about half of a second. Five frames (10 FPS) should be good.

Estimated pay: $40
