Hello, everyone. I know for a fact there are OGA users who publish their games on Itch.io, because I recognized the art. It would be neat if we used that information to connect better, because in my opinion the two communities complement each other very well, and even share certain values. I'm https://itch.io/profile/claudeb over there if you're interested. Thanks for reading.
Sure ... both platforms a very much about empowering creators ...

Neat! I remember noticing The Woods when you published it, but I didn't dwell much on the game. Still feel like I'm missing something. :) Your recommendations are intriguing, too. Thanks!

Our banner isn't nearly as cool as tinyworld's :)
I have to admit I haven't sold much on there but itch.io is still my favorite of the non-Valve store fronts. I like the fact that it's self publishing and it the tool set for creating and managing your store page are pretty nice and straight forward to use.

I don't even have a banner. :P And I haven't sold that much either, but few communities have made me feel as welcome (OGA is one of them). Which is great, because socialization is the best kind of marketing...
Cool! It's awesome to see all of your projects! As I make more progress I might have to look into setting up my own account there.
@claudeb: is there a community over there? wondering if I missed some forums or something, I thought it was just a store front...

The itch.io community forums opened recently, but even before them you could follow other developers, leave reviews and comments on their games, and make collections other people can browse. Game jams offer even more opportunities for interaction. So in a sense there was a community from the beginning. Just not many people who took advantage.
thanks! I'll have to check out the forums, and make a point to follow a few more devs on there!

I'm at http://mdwh.itch.io .
It's a really good place for hosting projects, as well as providing support for selling, including support for "pay what you want". No upfront costs, and you can choose how much revenue cut they take.
One thing to note is that it doesn't seem to be a place that you can just put something there and get many extra views/downloads - at least mine are extremely low even compared to say my own website, I guess it's not a place that many people visit as users. But nonetheless, it provides a site and payment system for developers to make use of. Also this is something that could change as it grows more popular - and I think the recently launched itch client for people to download is a huge step forward (similar to stream, desura, etc). And I wasn't aware of the forums either, I'll check those out.
Well, no online store guarantees you an audience. Those that claim to are simply lying. You still need to market your work, and at least itch.io makes it easy. But you really need to take advantage of it...

My stuff. Haven't sold anything yet, though I didn't really try. It was interesting to see if there are people bored enough to spend 2 dollars on a game they have never heard about.
As if I sold much. Mostly it was friends of mine giving tips. (I did sell a copy of my book though.) There's no guarantee. But Itch.io allows me to try, and it's a very friendly place as well, where developers can help each other. And with persistence, who knows.
