Hello guys, I want to copy a part of an image (A tail) from an art animation of some game this is the animation the naimation is in the attachments what I want is to copy the tail from the first 4 frames (Exactly as it is) and change it's colors and use it with another independent image of mine what do you guys think about that and if I can't use it how can I change it to make it mine like change 1 pixel? 5 pixels change? or something like half of the image maybe change the scales ( The dark lines in the upper light area of the tail) So that hte scales appear different will that solve it and what about the fire can I keep it the same? (With the change of color as well) Thanks in advance
Every scenario you describe would make your creation a derivative of the original. Taking any part of another asset and changing it or using it as a base or guide is considered deriving art.
That isn't necessarily bad. Some assets are licensed to allow people to make derivatives as long as you give credit to the original artist. So the question is "what is that asset licensed under?"
If it's from a commercial game, in all likelihood derivatives are NOT allowed. Where is that animation from? Who owns the copyright?

https://duelyst.com/ This is the commercial game
I dunno I just read their terms of agreement and it's all about the game didin't mention anything about the art what should I do?
EDIT: Ok I sent them an email waiting for there answer I guess
You should not use any part of that animation. Study it, learn from it, be inspired by it, but don't use it. Make your own animation from scratch or find something comparable here on OGA (all assets here allow derivatives).
