Art for Shinobi Densetsu
Art for Shinobi Densetsu
Hi guys and gals,
as you may (not) know, our game is evolving from "moddable game with source code" to "full-blown open source", and after making a few agreements to release everything under, at least, cc-by-sa 3.0 e are wanting to expand greatly on original content.
recently we became short on people (i'm the one currently active!). everyone has a tight schedule and i can't manage to do all by myself. if i could share tasks with someone it would be much easier.
There isn't much in the way of design documents, but i'm taking care of documenting everyting in the wiki. what i'd really love to see would be new ideas popping up and getting done. as soon as i'm done rebalancing and polising the mechanics it would be awesome to bring something new into that.
So, the challenge is to create original art. be it graphics, sounds or music.
play the game, browse the site and game files, get inspired, and imagine your take in that world.
it doesn't even matter if you're following a storyline or in tune with the lore. in arcade mode, anything goes.
Respond to this topic if you are interested and i shall provide more details as you ask.
Have you abandoned the 2D version? The latest blog post seems to imply so.
Also you may get more response if you include some examples of existing art, as well as links to your project (I had to go through your username).

Here's what I got for now ...
@ Charlie
Unfortunately I haven't had much time to blog. Although I have been doing stuff in the site, from an updated front page, to more wiki pages, and probably the worst, getting rid of and preventing spambot attacks which happened recently.
The 2D version lives on, 3D seems a promising path for future projects, but we haven't even finished this one. UDK disappointed me in the sense that it does not offer Linux support, thus disabling or severely crippling some of the few existing fans. I just haven't had the state of mind to elaborate a blog post, because behind the scenes, there is development in all fronts.
and you're right, we should link and show examples, so here they go:
SD website
Two submissions of sprites from SD
SD Creatures
SD Enemies and playable characters
@Mumu Mumuch appreciated :D thank you!
