Some top-down spaceships. They're heading to the right. ;) Enjoy!

Woooow :o
BTW the ships in the screenshot are about 50% (or even less?) smaller than the originals.
uhhhhhh! Awesome =O You rule it
They are amazing. I love the detail. Do you have a smaller fighter pack to accompany it?
Also could you elaborate on your workflow? What tools did you use to make them?
I look forward to (well, hope for) more uploads like this Skorpio!
Another idea would be some good thruster / weapons effects to go with these.
Nope, I don't have smaller fighters, but I have some more spaceships which I'll post soon (too lazy to pack and upload them now ;) ).
As for the workflow, it's not very difficult. I start with a rough shape in mid grey or some other base color, then I paint details with darker and brighter grey tones. After that step I add layers which are set to overlay, multiply or some other blending modes to colorize the ships. The only annoying part is that you have to mirror each layer separately, unless you paint only one half and merge the layers before you mirror it. I could upload a tutorial with some pictures, if I'm not too lazy. ;)
What tools do you use?
I used only Photoshop, but you can do the same in Gimp.
I've posted a short tutorial in the forum: http://opengameart.org/forumtopic/spaceship-tutorial
Those are AWESOME. Very cool looking, very neat style.
These ships are incredibly good-looking in a game :)
Nice job!
I love the art and am looking into making a programmatic version that makes similar models but was a bit disappointed to find your tutorial image missing. Would you be so kind as to repost that? :D These look amazing
Hey, I just saw your comment CptnWaffles. Didn't get an automatic e-mail notification.

Is there already an open game to use these space ships in ? How is it called ?
I would like to use the tutorial with teenagers at my job, so they draw them and then they play with their spaceships.
Naev perhaps?:

I'm pretty sure there are many others, but that's the first one that came to my mind, being featured on Freegamer so often.
P.S.: The captcha is ambiguous: "What is the last letter of the alphabet?"
Which alphabet? :P
I don't think there are FOSS games that use these ships, but I've received some e-mails from people who wanted to use them in commercial games. I don't know the names, though.
Hi! The assets are quite cool and inspiring :).
I'm working on a Space Browser MMO in HTML5, and I was just looking for some spaceships to use! I've included one of them for testing already!
I will work on integrating more, please keep up the good work!
You can see the results at: http://www.voiddust.com
Also I invite you guys to join there! I'm looking for testers and people willing to contribute to the project!
I also put the credits for Skorpio in the splash page :)
Cheers,
Vincenzo
Cool. :) Are there no screenshots yet?
Skorpio, it's online right now at www.voiddust.com
It's HTML5 so always up and updating that. Just added another ship from your set :)!
That's great man, I will make even more clear you are to be credited for the ships!
I would love if you would decide to help with the game!
Cheers,
V.
Really nice work. I'm using some of your graphics in a flash & iOS game that I'm working on. You can play the current state of the game here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/15271615/Space%20Rush.swf
I've added your name to the credits as Skorpio. Please contact me if you want me to add your real name.
(Controls: Up & Down arrow keys.)
I used it in my Android game called 'Space Ranger: Jotnar Protocol'. It is used on the first world. I credited you in the credits section accesible from the main page.

Hello skorpio, I do not speak English, I only speak Spanish and this is a translation, I'm making a game for commercial purposes using material from this site and do not understand about licenses, for example use your sprites and I made a few modifications to simulate movement, I would like you to help me with information or telling me I have to do, thank you very much
