I have recently started work on a game, and as I'm new to pixel art I'm wondering what program to use for editing tilesets and creating new tiles. I made a recolor of the tower piece from the main atlas in Piskel, but when I tried to shrink down the tileset to an appropriate size I couldn't figure it out. Got any tips?
Pyxel Edit
Excels in pixel art tile creation. A free version is available.

This is what I use for pixel art...tiles are its specialty but it does all things good IMO. Its just a case of persevering and learning the software and its shortcuts...
Ok, thanks! Seems to work great! Is there any way to copy tiles in the program though, I can't seem to figure out how to.
I would also recommend Aseprite-- it's what I've started using, has tileset support, and it makes color management a dream. It's not free unfortunately, but it does have a demo version, and I think it's well worth the $20.
Okay, thanks! I'll check this one out too! :)
With Gale portable old version for Windows XP you can create beautiful spaceships, just select pen tool and draw. Old version is here:

Ok, I'll look into it. Thanks!
Try pyxele edit - it is the best way and very easy to learn!
Ok, thanks for the suggestion!
