Quite a few years ago I read this story that I cannot find anymore, so I hope someone here knows about it and could point me to it. If this is too off-topic, feel free to remove this post.
Basically, an artist made an awesome animated sprite of a princess, which he thought was perfect. But since he knew his manager would always request him to change something, he added a horribly ugly bird flying around the princess' head, so that when he showed it to the manager, the latter just said "looks great, just please get rid of that bird."
I'd really appreciate if anyone could point me to the original story, the above is just the way I recall it. My research-skills fail me miserably.
that's a pretty standard type of story that gets told by graphics designers in one form or another. it might be difficult to track down that specific instance.
The artists shows it to the manager. The manager says "It looks great, just get rid off that princess". The artist, in disblief, asks for confirmation "Are you sure it is the princess and not the bird?". The manager says "Get rid off that ugly princess". He silently goes back to his desk starts boxing his stuff.
