Hi. I'm working on an open source projects to train robots to do tasks in simulation using reinforcement learning. The project is called MiniWorld. I would like to create some doom-like levels where the agents have to open sliding doors (as in Doom) to get to a goal.
To this end, I'm looking for one or more Doom-like door texture. Something with an aspect ratio of 1:1 or 1:2 (ie: 512x512 or 512x1024). Ideally the texture should be CC0 (public domain), so that students/researchers can copy/fork/redistribute this project without having to worry about tons of licenses for all the individual assets used.
Your help would be much appreciated. Have a nice day! :)
PS: I love this website. What you're doing is awesome for all game creators out there.

Hi
Just metalic looking doors or a variety of textures?
Metalic looking doors with no trim/edge in size 512x512 and/or 512x1024 (width x height).
Kind of like this but a simpler, less sci-fi design would be fine too :)
License has to be CC0/public domain.
I think you're going to find it tough to get such a texture as CC0. I've looked pretty hard and not really finding anything.
You could probably find enough public domain scraps to "kitbash" something up, though.
If you're willing to be more flexible with licensing, then Evillair just released some awesome new stuff:-

PhilipK also provides some Doom/Quake style materials that can be used:-

And, from me, just incase this might help with your project:-

(might look familiar)
I am meaning to upload this and several others here soon.
And these textures don't work?

I've looked through them but couldn't find a doom-like door in there. I might have to try and "kitbash" something like LDAsh suggested.
Give me a day or so and I'll draw you up a couple of designs.
Sounds great. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with :)
How is this for starters?

I would prefer something that looks more rugged, like a vertically sliding hangar door, with no window.
No probs
Is that a bit more suitable?

Yes, if you could make it less blurry and more grey, less rusty, it would be quite good.
Here is one I just made.

That's quite cool fantomx11. Are you willing to share this as CC0/public domain? I will use this texture if so :) Do you have a 1024x1024 version?
Would you also be willing to try to make another version that is slightly less high tech, more just gray and metallic?
Thanks to everyone for contributing, not just to my project but to all the textures available on this website.
I assumed the CC0 license was implied since I made it and posted it in a thread asking for such. However, it is a good idea to be explicit about these things, so yes. Those textures and this one are CC0.
I do not have a 1024 version of that one.
Here is a 1024 gray slab.

My last contribution for now :)

Thanks guys :)
Fantomx11: your 1024 gray slab is very cool. Do you think you could add bolts at the bottom a little bit like Ogre has at the bottom of his door, or some kind of trim to indicate it's the bottom edge of the door? Other than that it's very much perfect, great work.
Here you go. Take your pick.

Thank you so much, this is awesome.
