In case anyone else has issues with this archive's structure, this is how I had to do it:
Uncompress the file "Textures.tar.gz". End up with a file called "Textures.tar".
Uncompress "Textures.tar" to get a file called "Textures" (no extension).
Uncompress "Textures" to get a folder called "Textures".
I used 7-Zip. WinZip failed on step 3 and I didn't even bother with WinRAR because WinZip had issues. I don't know what mac / linux users use or if this will work for you, but hopefully it won't be too much different.
