Actually kinda funny to think that the original is actually several steps more complex than Flappy Bird.
IIRC, the birds bounce off your propeller a little bit, which I always found satisfying even though hitting them is a negative...

Sacre bleu!!
Definitely a must play! Rom shouldn't be too hard to dig up (if you own the physical cartridge then nothing to feel too bad about it emulating it), or if you really trust Java to keep your computer safe, a quick google turned up a site where you can play the game in your browser.
The game is definitely one of the standouts in the 2600 library, out of curiousity, how did you choose it if you've not played the original?

Love it! What about birds? They made a wonderful chirp if you hit them in the original!

I am tied up finishing a game right now, but when it finishes I'd be willing to give this a stab. I certainly see the need for a good pixel art animation tool.

As someone who is also not an artist, the axiom I go by is 'consistency is king'. If all your assets use the same pallete, they'll look nice together and the overall image will look solid and professional. Start mixing palletes and you'll get an image that looks busy, jarring or worse sloppy, even if the individual pieces are, by themselves, stronger. Same can be said of shading, perspective, artistic style, etc.
Bummer is it makes it harder to mix and match art from this site, as Bart's strawberry demonstrates.
Definitely playable. Visually, the backdrop looked a little pxelated but otherwise scaling artifacts were pretty negligible. ipad specific version never hurts but I wouldn't call it a 'must do'

Pretty fun mechanic, and the controls feel goodt, so I'd say you nailed the hardest part for sure!
is there supposed to be soumd? Didnt hear anything on my ipad. :(
only other thoughts would be to add some sparkles or something whem you get a green ball and maybe exaggerate the 'appearing soon' effect for the red balls.

this is a great feature, I just spent quite a bit of time assembling credits for the game I am working on, will definitely try this feature for the next one as it could save a lot of searching.
'Always fun to see the roots of modern gaming.'

oh dear, looks like the A on the plain tall variant is missing a row of pixels, please let me fix before you spend anytime making it true time :)
I sometimes see folks post small/minor tweaks as comments to the original entry.
Not sure if this is considered a good way to do it or not, but does solve the cluttered search results problem.
