You are right, I used my 3D blender model for a basic image, then edited it with the Gimp. The 3D rendering does not look like this. Since my goal was an isometric sprite, I did not include the original *.blend. Do you need it?
Can not but agree -- some blood never spoils a zombie-kill. However, buitiful as it is.

You are absulotely right. Check it out now.
Uncheck the "Vertex Color Paint" in the Options section of Material tab. Then set the hair color with. say, material.
