Also, I have submitted an early version of effects set, so need your feedback about it's usability in real projects, what is missing, so I can finalize it. Thank you!
Some new staff — project logo, and battle mech, that I named after the hero of the russian fairy tale "Kolobok". Hero is a small spherical creature made from dough. Battle Mech "Kolobok" is something like Kalashnikov rifle in our time — reliable, unpretentious, cheap which is why very popular weapon.
KumoKairo, big thanks for such detailed comment! Someday I planning to add realtime light (maybe with sprite lamp), but in my own game, cause here it will make some difficulties for peoples who just need some sprites art for there games, and they didn't planning to base all game on this art.
TheStoreman, thanks! Yes, I have in plans to create some indoor environments for this set!
One of the things that I'm working in parallel - a whole new set of units for top down shooter. These characters will be more sophisticated and well-developed in detail, so I plan to add to them portraits and weapons.
But while I do not know will I put them here, or try to create my own game with this staff. In any case, I will share progress in this direction here. Yet I only have a few sketches. I called them freelancers.

Flattering to hear it!
I'm didn't use any specific tutorials (everything are useful), but maybe, some day, I'll make my own :)
Thanks!
I think they will be in my default style, common 2D, but at less candy-like.
By the way, you can find my previous works here — http://opengameart.org/content/tatermands-art
Love it!

Thank you guys! I am sorry that took so long to respond to you.
IndieDevs, yes, I'm working on projectiles and other effects!
Zooltan, each ship bigger than fighters — already have a rotating turret on it's top :)
