Absolutely, in fact, the code was written for an older dart compiler and would probably work much better with an update. I'll try to get it done by tonight.

Thanks for letting me know!

Update: All refactored! There are bound to be glitches, but it should be working on most modern browsers now. Thanks for the help!

Big Island won HTML5 Grand Prize! Thanks to everyone who played! This contest was a lot of fun and I'm really hoping we go for another round next year!

The game is still available on my github. It hasn't been updated in a while, but trust me when I say big things are coming!

Big Island HTML5 version

When the contest started it had javascript errors, those have since been fixed.

The commit history for what I've changed: https://github.com/seveibar/liberated-pixel-cup/commits/gh-pages

The game : http://seveibar.github.com/liberated-pixel-cup/

Edit: I've updated with small game enhancements, all are documented in the commit history

Certain villagers (only 3 atm) you can interact with when you press space near them. (They stay stationary and shout at you)

E and Q cycle through your weapons.

T speeds up time (4x)

Shift sprints

F goes fullscreen (sort of)

I'll try to throw in a control menu later today, thanks for taking interest!

Updated the game demo, you can play it using the link above

New Stuff:

  • Big world to play in
  • Clothes!
  • Day/Night Cycle

Stuff to do still:

  • Enemies
  • Quests
  • Leveling system
  • Ranged combat
  • NPCs
  • Better map collision

Hopefully I'll have something resembling a game by tommorow! Edit: If you played earlier, it may appear the map hasn't changed. To remedy this, clear your browser's cache. then it will load the new images

That's very weird, they go to the exact same URL. It is however, a public repo. I'll just remove the second link.

Are you sure it isn't public already? I don't think I can even make a private repo with github unless I pay.

I support the extension, polished games are critical to a competition's first year.
