Nice. Was this used in that charming bunny game I can't remember the name of?

Thanks, I've removed that from the upload.

I also uploaded the main art assets: http://opengameart.org/content/main-art-from-monster-rpg-2

Removed "jungle_ambience" as it is not original.

I got in touch with Trent, and he's kindly responded here. I removed the offending sound effects from my upload, and if there are no objections I'll upload the other assets (minus the alligator!) later today or tomorrow.

Cheers.

Thanks leilei, I got in touch with Nooskewl Games and removed the assets which they said were not original:

bow_draw and bow_drawn_and_release

high_cackle

low_cackle

Meow

pistol

rocket_launch

Thanks leilei,

At this stage I think we have three options:

1) Put a warning on the Sound Effects and Music entries that some of the files might be copyright of someone other than Nooskewl Games, and remove the offending files where we notice them.

2) Remove the Sound Effects entry altogether, since it seems to be the area where there's likely to be infringement.

3) Remove the Sound Effects and Music entries altogether, just to be safe.

Now, I'm new here so I'll happily bow to community opinion on this one.

(I'll also shoot an email to Nooskewl Games asking them if they can give us some guidance on licensing).

Woops, I didn't realise there was a double-up! Thanks for pointing that out. This file has all 43 songs from Monster RPG 2, rather than just 7.

Thanks for your expertise. I've never created game art in my life, so I'm not an expert in these things. The art is in a peculiar style, that's for sure!

Looking at the dragon, it's been animated—which makes me think that the weird cut-and-pasting of the tail is an artifact of that process rather than how the art was created originally.

I might dip my toe in the water, uploading the sound files and combat backgrounds, and hold off for a while to see if we learn anything about how the other sprites were made.

Hey Redshrike,

I definitely found that the assets were piecemeal, but I think they're worth preserving regardless.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about the development of the game, but I haven't heard anything about the assets not being entirely original. Are you worried about that because of the look of the images?

The text says that these portraits are CC BY, but the metadata says CC BY-SA. Which is it?

Also, it looks like there's over 100 portraits here. How terrible!
