Here's the thing.  Mods technically have the ability to do that, but not necessarily the authority.  As I understand it, my modship was given for the purpose of deleting spam, marking licensing issues and occasionally smoothing over small conflicts.  Even if he isn't around much, it's still Bart's site and I don't want to overstep the bounds too much.  I also wouldn't have much to say these days; I'm drafting my thesis so I occasionally stop in to delete spam and check things on the front page that catch my eye, but I haven't been properly keeping up for a while.  I haven't even been updating my art collections.

I have suggested to him that he ought to put up a small update, both through direct and indirect channels.  It is embarrasing that our latest update is from last year and about a security failure, even if the actual damage was very minor.  I haven't heard back from him though.  I mean, I get it, he has two young kids now and his priorities have likely shifted.  Stuff happens.  Nevertheless, if I end up with more time after getting my degree I think I'll try to do more, permission or no.

The problem with CC-By-NC isn't so much the NC part as the CC part in my opinion.  It has no part in the 'creative commons', it's simply a handy license for distributing work that you only want people to be able to consume personally for free but not otherwise compete with your external revenue streams.  Very useful and good for customers in some instances, but it has nothing to do with creative usage of the work.  Not quite as bad as -ND, though, which is somehow worse in that regard.

(Despite Bart not being very visible it's best not to poke the back end stuff on the site.  Better to poke Botanic to poke it if you can).

It's a very real problem.  I haven't been in touch with Bart in quite a while.  I try to stop in every now and then and clean the most obvious spam but there is definitely lots left and my time is quite limited by grad school demands.  On the plus side, we've recently added Medicinestorm to our modding lineup!  So there is that!

Yes, but we're only talking about works that are already freely licensed, where derivative works are explicitly allowed and the artist has given (irrevocable) blanket permission for use and redistribution.  In these cases they have no technical legal basis for demanding a removal--it's simply a matter of courtesy and respect for their wishes.

"I think the admin's assessment may initially sound something like "are you freaking kidding me?"."

Yes, it definitely would be.  We will always do our best to honor artists' intents and requests within reason.  Not just because it's nice and right, but also because this site is one of the major points of connection between general game art and FOSS development.  We don't want to give the impression to artists at large that if they submit here that they will be taken advantage of.  But that kind of case would no doubt require some sort of special handling.

Somehow I guessed it would be about one of my sheets.

No, there is definitely no hidden order to how they're arranged on the sheet.  The long and short of it is, it is very time-consuming to sheet a character out in a rigorous and orderly way (and that was doubly the case with my workflow five years ago).  The gifs are provided in part as a guide on how the animations should look, and my reasoning at the time was that there should be enough information for the sheets to be implemented by the dev in whatever way is easiest for them--essentially, shoving that bit of work off onto the devs since I didn't particularly want to do it.  That's not necessarily the best approach I will admit, but these sheets in particular have been used a number of times so I assume at least some people have worked through it.

Someday I want to go back and revamp all of these, and at that point I'll definitely have to reformat them as well.  But I'm in grad school at the moment so it won't be any time soon I'm afraid.

Hello!  First, thanks for stopping by.  For this upload, I would recommend putting them all in one.  Upload a few of the images as preview files and then put the whole set as a zipped file as the main attachment.  It's probably easiest for devs to have them all in one place and all easy to grab at once.

That's just because the search is busted.  Dunno about the email though.
