It's been a while and I redid this project from scratch (again)... I found some graphics in unity asset store and other sites, and now, the first dungeon is playable. All stats, monsters, items, spells and other game machanics are in place and working. I decided to release this game as freeware when it's done, so I thought this might be of interest to you. :-) I have a page on FB for beta testing. If some of you are interested, drop me a line. :-)
i don't have a complete list yet. First, i want to finish the framework. The items won't have pictures, just text. The main graphics window is 500x500 px, but i may go with upscaled pictures like the ones i have now. These are 112x112 px. But, what i will need: Scenes: -Adventurers Guild, Pub, Temple, Weapon Shop, Magic Energy Shop (all from the outside for the textures in town and a scene-pic from inside)
-character pics for the classes: Warrior, Paladin, Monk, Rogue, Mentalist, Druid, Conjurer, Wizard, Archmage
-a load of monster pics. (i hope to get 20 minimum, some monsters may share the same pic) I don't have a list, but i need all sorts of AD&D-like monsters like Goblins, Werewolves and the obvious dragon.
I hope to come back to you when i'm done with all the internal stuff. I would hate to see someones art never be used because the framework never gets finished. So concentrate on your own game first. A RPG strategy game? Sounds nice! :-)
Yes, all i need is 2D pixel art. The 3D (more like 2,5D) graphics engine is a simple raycasting one, no fancy stuff there. All the monsters will not roam free in the 3D world. They will be presented as 2D still pixel art in the main window, like the borrowed Warrior from Bard's Tale 2 in the first picture. The interior of the buildings, like the inn will also be 2D pixel art. So the only 3D "art" is handled by my engine and it just needs flat 2D textures for the walls and bottom/ceiling in dungeons and city buildings. Even the night sky with the stars is just a very wide 2D bitmap that's projected to the 360 degrees of the nightly city. Currently, i just finished (hopefully) bugfixing the item management and item properties. Next week, i hope to create some (or maybe all) of the items and start with the magical spells. Oh, and the font i am using for all the in-game text (not the Bard's Tale banner) is a free one from bosil. I keep him posted about my progress. :-)
The character pictures are "borrowed" from the Amiga Version of Bard's Tale 2. ;-) The program is mine. All graphics are just placeholder at this time.
