There's a browser based version out there, I believe, if you check around on the web site.
The "Infinity Halls" quest is not the finale, it is in fact optional... but I think it is very easy to wind up with the mistaken assumption that it is, and you need all the figurines to finishe the game. The developers may wish to communicate this more clearly.
My Ranger made it to the finale, and got completely wiped by the Final Boss, repeatedly... he feels just way underpowered. Which, in turn, nuked all my gold (very frustrating that there's no way to cache it in the stash and not have it at risk when you're playing). There's a couple of moments where the difficulty level suddenly escalates through the roof (Metzger is another one, he was able to oneshot me, basically... I had to spam healing potions to survive him) and you go from not needing healing potions except occassionaly, to basically needing to spam them near continuously.
As covered elsewhere... consider what the book in the switch room says, then look at the mini-map, and the floors of surrounding rooms. If you interpret what you see correctly, you'll have the clues necessary to solve the puzzle.
It's probably a step more complex than any of the other puzzles in the game, since you can't just totally randomly flip switches and solve it, and the switches don't "lock" once they're in the proper position.
Thanks, I managed to trace my way back and find it.
I missed it the first time around, because figuring out how to get in that room at all was really freakng annoying and frustrating, so I was distracted. I did not get the hints in the outer room, and even after I figured out that's what they were and how to interpret them with the assistance of the forums here, I bascially wound up just randomly shifting switches back and forth until I made it in.
