I am not an artist but a fellow game maker myself. If you end up having trouble finding an artist, here are a couple of suggestions.You could give a discription of the game. What is the game about and what will be unique about it? You can also include infromation on any other projects you have worked on.
Using original sprites for your game is a good idea, but you could use sprites from the site to make a prototype/alpha version of your game. This can also spark artist interest, and give them more confidence on how good the game will be and how serious you are about completing it.
