Animated stuff is always good! By the way, where is the torch from?

I have to echo curt in another thread. Why do RPG Maker graphics have to be so bloody useless.

Right, I agree with you bart. Modified base art is still bound by the original author's license restrictions. No question or argument there.

I think I've made it pretty clear I'm willing to pay to have good graphics made (since I've already done so). I'm sure you can understand that I'm not asking just to do things cheap, quick, and dirty; I keep finding RPG Maker graphics and I don't know what their base art looks like so I can't discern. Ignorance isn't always bliss, sometimes it bites us in the rear.

Thanks for the response by the way, that did kind of answer my question.

Their license seems all over the place, I get the impression they don't know about any common licenses like Creative Commons, GPL, MIT, etc.

I wonder if they'd be willing to use a conventional license for their graphics if I sent them an email... Worth a shot. I'll drop them a line and include a link to the CC licenses page. There's no Japanese translation that I can see so I sent them the English version (their site has an English version, maybe they speak English?).

My long-time and dear friend Karina has voiced some interest in making game art. She's working on her master in graphic design (I think that's the official major she chose) and she's pretty darn good at just about everything. I convinced her to make a profile on here, this is her name:

amber-butterfly

I would like to introduce her to all the awesome people here on OGA so she can make some contacts, especially all the awesome pixel artists.

It's on OGA because it's free to use. Just give credit if you do. After we get enough resources together for our game we'll use it too ;)

I was going to start a new thread with this exact same comment but figured I should read first. I'd like to bump this as a current request for me too. The title line that contains the first bunch of characters from the comment could be replaced by the commenters name, that would be most useful.

Blue! That's right, it's a completely unnatural looking blue tree! How does the coloring look on that one, should I tweak it?

UPDATE

The template half-body graphics have changed license (found here):

http://opengameart.org/content/template-portait-half-body

They're now CC-BY instead of CC-BY-SA! Now the nice example pieces Xenodora made and released as CC0 are legitimate! Free game to make stuff any license you like, rock on!

After a nice discussion with MarinaNT she has agreed to change her license publicly to CC-BY! She didn't understand that CC-BY-SA required all derivative works to be the same license and might conflict with non CC licenses. She appreciated someone taking the time and care to explain the difference and didn't realize the licenses were available in Spanish (she lives in Spain)!

Sometimes all it takes is a friendly comment and some willingness to show someone the difference. Would you mind updating the license here on OGA to CC-BY so we can reflect the author's license?

XD

Now we can license derivatives any way we like.
