As far as I understand, scalable fonts are covered by copyright because they’re considered programs for the copyright law. The text you type with a font is considered an output of that program and hence shouldn’t be covered by copyright.
I guess the definition of “well-known” differs from country to country. The first picture in the preview is the Vasn’ecov’s “Bogatyri”, a very well known piece in the xUSSR countries. ^^

Thank you very much for making this available!

I’m not 100% sure and not a lawyer, but at least Wikipedia allows to use the images in some font and ignore the font’s original copyright, see this file as an example:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Oracle_bone_graphs_rotated_90_degrees.svg
OMG this is so cute!
Absolutely awesome!
I’ve forgotten to log in. >_>
Looks very nice! ^^ Especially the grass.
Unfortunately I have no use for isometric sprites right now, but I really like yours. ^^
Why is the license different for the 1st and the 2nd sheet?
Also, the description
If you make modifications to it, we would appreciate if you contribute those modifications back to OGA, but that is not required.
and the license
CC-BY-SA 3.0
seem to contradict each other, don’t they?
> “Well-known originals were avoided”
