In response to a thread over at freegamedev, we've made some major changes over the past couple of days to how texture browsing works. We've unpacked all of the texture archives on OGA and made the textures individually browse-able by category. A big thank you goes out to the folks who have been helping manually categorize the nearly 4,000 texture files in the arcnive. :)
Note that there are a few more changes coming -- expect some navigation improvements in the near future, along with the ability to filter textures by license and resolution.
So, what are you waiting for? You can use the new texture browsing interface by going to Browse -> Textures on the main menu. :)

Wow, you guys are awesome!!! :D
Congrats, amazing improvement.
This is a really great improvement! thanks for the time you put into this :D
One question, I quickly looked at the submission page and checked the 'textures' box but nothing looks any different, how are future textures going to be assigned to the right areas? will it be done manually by admins etc or will there be big changes to the textures submission?
Also if someone wishes to submit a large zipped file of textures or a large number do they now have to be submitted individually or is there some way of automatically creating a new submission for each file in a zip? or how will this be handle (you might guess I have very little knowledge about this so my ideas probably make no sense!)
Thanks again! Scribe
Please add a link to Texture Packs into the Browse section again.
The new textures page is good for browsing the very big mixed texture packs, but for the more specific packages the old view is still prefereable.
@Scribe
Textures are submitted the same way they've always been, prefereably on large batches. Once we receive them, we verify the source (and make sure they're licensed correctly), then add them to the texture archive and categorize them.
@MrBeast
That's a good idea. I'll do that. :)
The new categories are nice, but I hope that browsing/filtering by licence will return for the texture section. (Or am I just missing where it is now?)
It'll be back.
Awesome!! Really nice creation..
this has been feature on Blender Nation! http://www.blendernation.com/2012/06/14/huge-free-textures-library/
