Hi,
I just noticed from one of his post that one OGA user is from Ukraine
If someone know him, I would be happy to know if he's alright?
Maybe there are other OGA users (maybe we could even call them our friends?) that are from Ukraine and Russia. I hope them, their family and friends are fine.
Some people here probably also like itch.io, there are also some users there that are from Ukraine:
like this one that creates nice html5 demos that I like the style.
This person says in the comments that he created some of these demos in a bomb shelter while his city was bombed by russian planes.
I think most people are impatient that this war ends, and that people from Ukraine and Russia can go back to their normal life.
while i agree with your sentiment of hoping that our commrades in eastern europe are ok, this thread is likely to derail into discussion of politics, which is not what oga forums are for.
Sorry, I'm not doing any politics here.
I just noticed an OGA user was from Ukraine. And I'm worry for him.
Most OGA users probably also like Itch.io, and I also noticed another user from Itch that is also from Ukraine.
I even put a warning if you don't like politics that the narative game from this Itch user contains some.
A lot of users on these websites use nicknames, maybe there are others that are still with us on these websites while being in a bomb shelter. Maybe some of these will or already have disappeared, and we will not notice it that much because it's not visible on their profile page in which country they are living.
We all share interest for independant games on these websites and we are some kind of "web friends" I think (I hope). I'm really sorry when I know what is happening to them.
I noticed a typo in my first message
"that this was ends"
should be
"that this war ends"
i didn't mean to be a jerk. sorry if i came off that way.
Ragnar is not mistaken that political content is not permitted on OGA, however I am delighted to see this is in the form of a game :) ...though the content of the game is itself not quite so delightful by design. :(
Artistic expression and gamification of political topics are an exception to the "no politics" rule. Provided this thread does not devolve into the discussion of politics and stays within the bounds of discussing the game as well as the concern for our fellow community members, this is fine and welcome.
that user's last activity on the site was April 26th 2020. I hope he and our other friends in Ukraine and Russia are doing ok. If any of you are struggling and if there is anything we can do to help, please say so. If you have heard from others recently, please pass along any news.

OK, I edited the initial post to remove the link to the "no-war" manifesto from the Ukrainian Itch.io user that contains political content.
I appreciated blue_prawn's original post and I thought it was respectful and quite well pitched.
I also understand fully Ragnar's concerns. We wouldn't want this forum to descend into angry political tribalism, which can happen very easily in these times.
When genetic Labs from there is exposed at end, we can exploit them in games. For example puzzle game, or underground doctor Mengele experiment Manager with plenty of capsules(with human parts), and base parts to expand your lab in multiple lift levers. Or System Shock 3 ... many opportunities arises.
I agree and I would like to have that link to the itch game remain. As I said, games containing political narrative and artistic expression of political topics are an exception.

i shouldn't have jumped the gun. i was not offended by anything blue_prawn said, just thinking that a hot topic like this would devolve where it ought not go.
i am sorry if i came off as uncaring or insensitive, that was not my intention.
I don't think you have anything to worry about, Ragnar. The point you were bringing up is correct and it will help remind us all to keep it about compassion instead of politics. :)

I was just reminded of this thread and I noticed that the link to the specific game is still removed. So I hope blue_prawn won't mind if I post it again: https://boticelly.itch.io/no-to-war-in-ukraine
