why are the most popular collections just full of incompatible art?
there are various collections on the main collections page but except the https://opengameart.org/content/oga-16x16-jrpg-sprites-tiles most of the collections contain art completely incompatible to use in a single project, ideally to be the most useful collections should each have some theme and then have many assets that adhere to the theme and are compatible, i just can't see the usefulness for a collection with a lot of incomṕatible art.
is there anything that could be done to help the curent situation? besides the obvious of creating collection with art that should be compatible
Collections are made by individual users for their own purposes. It is up to them what they consider "compatible" for their own project. It is ultimately a matter of opinion. You are welcome to make your own collection and only add what you consider compatible art. Just be sure to let others see it so we can criticize your interpretation of compatible as well. :P
Haha! Just kidding about that last part. Another thing you can do is leave a comment on the collection or contact the owner of the collection and share your ideas about curation. Many of them welcome suggestions, especially when their collection is meant as a community project to be shared.
