In my opinion, there hasn't been so many submissions as to warrant that, and they are quite useful in most cases.
It may be a good idea to have a 'Is this art AI generated' box in the submission page, however. Once the submitter hit yes they would be asked which AI they used, and it would help root out non-CC-compatible AIs and slim down the manual admin work.
I agree, submission with AI involved in, has to be tagged with AI, and nothing else.
I don't see any need for special handling of AI assisted artwork submissions as far as "drowning out" other artwork goes. Any user who floods the site with multiple rapid submissions already has their submissions squelched from appearing on the front page temporarily.
If submissions of AI assisted art are "trivial" (anyone could use the AI to make the same thing in just a few minutes) then, again, those submissions are treated the same as other "trivial" submissions. Any time someone draws a crude stick figure of limited usefulness and uploads it, it gets evaluated for how much effort it is saving anyone and will be taken down if it's quicker to make your own than to download that guy's version.
However, keeping it clear which submissions are AI assisted is important, in my opinion. Beyond just tagging something as being AI-generated or AI assisted, there are very specific Terms of Use for the various tools out there. Not all of them are compatible with the open licenses we support. For that reason, I will insist upon any such submission including a link to the specific version of AI tool that was used so that everyone can be confident the allowed usage of output will not get anyone in trouble.
It would be nice to add the checkbox or some additional prompting in the submission process for this. I'm not sure how feasible that is under the current geriatric site framework, though.

That's already possible. Any tag can be used to exclude submissions from a search.
...Also, I don't think the suggestion was that AI-assisted submissions are only allowed to have one tag: "AI Assisted". I think the suggestion was that the only requirement we place upon AI submissions is that they must include such a tag along with any other tag that is relevant. I am not saying I agree or disagree with the suggestion either way. Just seeking clarification.
--Medicine StormI thought that FiveBros was suggesting an "AI generated" tick box which wouldn't affect anything else, but could be used to hang new site features off to help with admin. E.g. adding a new field to specify which AI was used. Sounds like a good idea to me but it would be even easier for mods to insist that AI-generated stuff has certain tags in the tag field. I don't think that those should exclude other tags, because just knowing that it's AI-generated won't help anyone to search for the kind of artwork that they are after, they have to be able to search on the thematic content.
My original post was thinking mainly about rapid submissions, because these new tools will be able to output stuff so fast. However MedicineStorm points out that this is already dealt with.
The boss of one of the company that has released one of the newer tools likes to talk about these being basically "search engines for stuff which could exist, rather than just for stuff that already exists" and that strikes me as an excellent way to think about them. The problems and opportunities that they bring will be just like that. In terms of stuff which is produced from these tools, a site like OGA will then become like a cache or a mirror; in theory you wouldn't need to post the actual artwork, you can just post the search string and the specific tool that you put it into, and then anyone else could retrieve the same artwork - but that would depend on the tool remaining available, which is not guaranteed. So when you hit upon something which you think is exceptionally good whilst playing with the tools, it would make sense to submit a copy here in order to guard against that eventuality.
That leads me to another idea. If AI-generated stuff could be easily retrieved by anybody using the same search string and the same tool, should OGA encourage submitters to include that information with the submission?
