Sinbad is the mascot for the Ogre 3D Rendering Engine, (which is itself under the MIT license).
Sinbad was created by a friend of mine named Zi Ye. Zi created Sinbad in Blender and released him under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike License.
Recently I converted Sinbad to Maya, and so i thought OGA would be a good place to host both versions of the source content.
Here is a video of Sinbad's dance animation.
Here is a video of an interactive Sinbad realtime in the Ogre Engine.
Basically he is a great resource to have when you need a character to start testing functionality in your game.
Here is the license as stated by Zi (a copy of which is included in the downloads):

This character is a gift to the OGRE community (http://www.ogre3d.org).
You do not need to give credit to the artist, but it would be appreciated. =)
PS
Included in each .zip is the .mesh version as well, which is the native format of the Ogre 3D engine.
If you plan to use the Maya version and intend to use it with Ogre 3D, keep in mind it is set up to be exported using The LFA Scene Manager, this way all the animations are delineated for you along the timeline.
enjoy!

Sweet, someone hooked up Sinbad to a Kinect!
ohh, nice and clean model =D i like it, very much =)
thankyou so much for this i have been looking for a model like this for months
Finally, I can look over how you do this, I'm still having issues getting complex animations to export out. Glad I saw this, will return to OgreForum and chat with you there.

I have a question what program did you use in creating the animations? is it blender?
