When this script is installed, a "Copy Markdown" button will appear on any opengameart.org content page. If you click the "Copy Markdown" button, the attribution information will be copied to the clipboard. Open your favorite text editor and hit Ctrl+V (or click "Edit", "Paste") to see it.
The script requires GreaseMonkey for Firefox (or TamperMonkey for Chrome-based browsers including Brave).
It is on GreasyFork here: OpenGameArt Attribution Maker
I intend to add a "Copy JSON" button next (So that if you place the json file in each resource directory, your game can read in the attribution data to generate credits). Another planned feature is to detect a "*.txt" file in the Copyright/Attribution Notice and add a separate variable linking to that.
I could post it as "Document" in the "Submit Art" form but I'm not sure. I don't actually want to upload the code because installing it from GreasyFork is much easier. Should I just use the forum? Is this an appopriate topic? I'd like to put it somewhere where it has a chance to not get buried since it may become a very helpful tool.
Since this is code, submitting it as a document would not really be appropriate.
Yes, the forum is a great place for sharing tools like this. Either here in Show Off Your Project or in the Feedback forum since it pertains to the site itself.
Similar functionality of saving and organizing licensing and attribution information can also be achieved with the "download credits file" link at the bottom of any custom "collections" users make on OGA. :)
