Please tell me what do you think about the game I am developing.
I will launch a project about it on IndieGogo in a few weeks.
The final version may launch in November.
Also, sharing this post or the video would be awesome!
Well let's see... cube world with gravity that flips around and cel shading, at least that's somewhat novel. Also exploration-based gameplay, instead of the usual survival scenario. It looks like a game with potential, I guess. Good luck!
Looking at this from the perspective of an indiegogo backer, I am going to be asking myself the question "What is Cube World doing that MineCraft isn't?" And based on your trailer, the answer to that question would be "not much." If I were you, I would wait to start an indiegogo campaign until you have more gameplay to advertise to your audience. I certainly wouldn't use the above video.
That being said, the idea of changing gravity in a 3D world is really cool, and has LOTS of gameplay potential. It just doesn't seem to be utilized at all in the trailer. I don't have a copy of the game, so I can't know for certain, but I'm guessing that the video shows a mostly completed engine with very little gameplay built on top of it.
I am NOT saying the project looks bad. It actually looks optimized, bug free and full of potential. I just don't think it is wise to advertise until you have actual gameplay to show off.
Thank you both, those are good reviews.
@TheBlackSword
I understand what you are saying. I have a lot of ideas, but not enough time to code them.
There will be three tipes of enemies: the peaceful (like cats, sheeps, etc), the guardians (will attack you if you get too close of them) and the aggressive (will attack you if they see you and chase through the sides of the world). If a guardian is chasing you, it is a good idea to change side because he wont chase you. But if it is an aggro enemy, running through the sides will just get attention from others.
The player will not be able to build, because the main quest is to leave the actual layer and go to the next, with no turn back. The hole is already "digged", and you just need to find it.
As you get inside the world, layers become smaller (like the russian dolls). It becomes easier to find the hole, but harder to avoid enemies.
The monsters you find are trying to protect the center of the world, because thats where they come from. The deeper you get, the stronger are the monsters. Until it gets to a point where you find a 10ft Titan in a 15ft map, havin one Titan in each side. It is impossible to run.
Also, there wil be different byomes. Each one has one or more islands and is covered with a liquid. In the first one, it is a tropical byome with water. Getting inside, you find dirt, stone, acid, crystal, lava, obisidian... and you may not be able to change side on foot. You will need a vehicle (boat, hang glider, helicopter, flying carpet, levitation, wings...). Also you will need to be careful about the liquid, as it can invade the land (I dont know the word in english, but its like a tsunami).
At the beggining, you will have three options of classes to play. But as you end the game with some classes, others will unlock, from a total of 16. For example, ending the game with Warrior and Mage will unlock the Paladin. Warrior and Rogue, the Duelist, etc.
Each class will have its advantages. The last you unlock is the Aprendice. It will have no mastery, but will be able to learn skills from every class.
The campaign is on air!
I have much improved the game since I made this post!
Please check it out!
