@Anonymous: well I was thinking to write a similar software, procedural image/texture creation is a topic I had studied before. However, the problem with this case is its artistic representation. Realistic planets dont look fancy. But I might still go ahead and write a software that will allow to design planets easier. I wish I had more time.
I generally rename downloaded file to contain author name and if its cc-by-sa or gpl I add this restriction as well. I generally treat cc-0 as cc-by unless author name is nowhere to be found.
Have you tried sparkle effect in GIMP? It might help. Also first background looks pretty good. Few larger stars might also be nice. I only added sparkle effect over your original image.
Well, not the background but glow and darkside of the planet. It is almost impossible to catch a planet fully lit. I see you have added the glow which made it alot better.
Looks pretty nice, after my qualification I might be interested in creating a game out of these assets ;) But probably I will need more graphics.
Thanks dude.
I think its time to write something after the tenth time listening it. But I cannot find a way to describe how awesome it is.
It has one flaw, too short. I was enjoying it, then it just finished. May be I should put it to loop and listen forever :)

BTW that software looks really nice.

Amazing, good job

Your planet was missing two simple steps from perfection. Here is the completed one: http://opengameart.org/content/planet-modified
