OGA has commissioned some more exclusive art, this time an overworld RPG tileset.  For the moment, it includes only the basics -- grass, ocean, forest, cliffs, towns, and a castle.  As the months pass, we'll be adding more onto it.  For now, you can find it here:

We've set up a system here at OGA wherein users are awarded recognition for their accomplishments and contributions to the community.  You can earn "Medals" by contributing art, posting on the forums, commenting on art, participating in contests, etc.  These medals will show up on your user page and your forum posts.  Accumulating medals may earn you small benefits, such as being able to bypass the approval process when posting art; however, access to all of the art on this site will always remain open to everyone.

I saw a submission today, and I thought it appropriate to draw special attention to it, as it's absolutely amazing.  Ails submitted his archive of 420 (and growing) pixel art fantasy RPG icons.  The small preview I've included here doesn't do it any justice.  I recommend that you:

• Check out the submission, and
• Take a look at Ails' DeviantArt page, which has some really excellent art

The results of the Pixel Art contest are in!  Here are the numbers:

With the judging for the OpenGameArt.org pixel art contest almost finished, keep an eye on this space for the results, which will be announced before midnight tonight (8/9/09) Eastern Daylight Time.  It's looking like a close race. :)

Just a quick heads-up.  I've done some major work on the forums, and they should be a lot more pleasant to use now.  Stop in and drop us a line. :)

Greetings, fellow art afficionados.  :)

I've been working over the last couple of days on the beginnings of an OpenGameArt.org Community Tileset (note the image attached).  It's just grass and dirt at the moment, but I think it's a good starting point.

By request, we'll be accepting late pixel art contest submissions until Midnight on Monday.  You can find the submit link on the rules page.

Just wanted to remind everyone that the pixel art contest ends in 2 days, at 11:59 PM Eastern Daylight Time on August 1st.  If you want to be eligible to win the $100 prize (or the $50 second prize) you need to turn in your entries by then!
