Sorlo has beeen created with Inkscape for the 2D game Ultimate Smash Friends, still in developpment. He can walk, jump, kick and smash, roll.
Mainly designed to be seen in profile view, he can be seen going on the left or on the right as his stick makes him asymetrical.

I like your sorcerer, think it's great, and have used it for my Bounce Metronome Pro as an example to show users how they can add a sprite for the bouncing balls.

It uses various bounce animations to help musicians keep good time for music practise.
Those videos are of the beta and I'm planning to include it in the release as an example when it's ready - with attiribution of course as per the license.

@robertinventor : I didn't see at once that Bounce Metronome was to buy, I hope it is open source !
It would be nice to make a free version for Linux, especially if you use copyleft or creative commons elements !

@doudoulolita glad you like the animations and the way I used your animation. Sorry I can't do it as open source as I'm doing this as a small sole trader business, I have no other job.
I'm using it under the creative commons atribution share alike license which is the first of your three licenses - which permits commercial use so long as I attribute it correctly - and also share any changes I make to the image. It doesn't require me to release the source code of the project that uses the image, just release any changes to the image itself.

However from what you say maybe you didn't understand those implications of the license when you applied it to your work? If so, will respect your wishes whatever they are.
I haven't yet released the new version of Bounce Metronome with your sprite in it, will do so soon. Will leave it out for now until I hear from you whether it is okay to include it or not.

Just realised, perhaps one could argue that the software itself is a derivative work if it includes the sprite in the installer? I'm not sure how that's interpreted in this situation.
So - just in case, it might be safer to keep to public domain sprites in the installer for the software.
I think there is no problem using share alike sprites in the demo videos of the software because then it's clear that the demo video is the derivative work and I have no problem releasing all videos including your sprite under the same license as the sprite itself.
For a bit more background, the thing is that normally the software just displays bouncing balls, or bouncing numbers or the like, but there's an option to select a sprite in the place of the bouncing balls (a minor option in the software). The user then can browse to choose any image they have to use as a sprite, but I wanted to include a few in the installer as demonstrations so they can use the feature straight away.
Are you okay with me using your sprite in the demo videos for the software? (if you prefer not for any reason I will take them down).

Just checked the FAQ for this site, missed that somehow before, I see it does mean I have to release the source code which I can't do so, so I won't be including it in the installer. Sorry for the mistake.

For your needs, I would recommend sticking to CC-By licensed assets. Though it's a shame you can't use this asset for that reason.
May be doudoulolita would consider releasing it under cc-by license.
That's okay, yes will do that. I had a couple of others from here that were CC-By which I might include later in an optional "add on" with extra sprites to try out.
For this next release I've used some public domain sprites from OpenClipArt.org for now, (some bird sprites and musical instruments, flowers, umbrella, look nice bouncing). This is the default I'm using now instead of Sorlo, it's also nice, kind of fun for users:

The sorlo one goes really well with the animation so it's nice to use it for the youtube videos which I think is permitted with the share alike so long as I make the video itself under the same license, is that okay?
Also though I can't include it myself with the program, I wonder if it is okay to point to this url for users of the software as a place where they can download extra sprites to use with the software including sorlo?
It's great to have this resource for developers like myself who can't afford to employ graphic artists to do their graphics - I just don't have the necesary skills to draw decent character sprites myself.

A separate package will be... well separate :) It can employ its own license. You may consider is like AnkhSVN. It is open source and a plugin to Visual Studio and VS is not open source.
Oh right that's a good thought, so seems I can include Sorlo in an extra package of sprites users can download to add to Bounce Metronome.
The original reason for making it a separate package was just to reduce the download size, I have to count the KB for the installer or it can get very large easily.

I would love to make him the main character for my iOS game Particle Boy. I would only be using the static.png, walk1.png, and walk2.png. Would you be okay with this?

If you intend to ask payment for your game, please make a free Linux version or keep your game open source if you wish to use Sorlo .
Ultimate Smash Friends doesn't use this version of Sorlo anymore.
I would be happy to see videos of your game and to have the link to download it, especially if there is a linux version.
I am putting a page dedicated to art and music I use. Each image I use will be a button that links to whatever link you provide me with, and your name of course would appear below the image. The game though is an iOS game, I have no linux experience so I wont be making a Linux version. The game will be free, and it will NOT be open source, meaning my code will not be open source, however the images and music will again have there own page like I mentioned before where credit is given.
However I am going to have in app purchases. Players can buy more lives, ammo, weapon upgrades if they chose to do so. However all content is free, and weapons will be able to fully upgraded very easily if the player never even spends money.
Is this okay? I have already put your player into the game, he looks great and I'm going to send you a link for a video soon, sometime withing the next week
