For some reason the main lead sounds very familiar to me
hey cool, its fun, its perky, I like it. I have to agree with Rexamin that it sounds as if heard before but where don't know.
IMHO it would be more appropriate perhaps when the hero wins something or perhaps going to the forest or something. Its a happy tune, not something which says danger or something like that.
Interesting. There's always a possibility that I subconsciously lifted it from somewhere, in which case, if someone can identify where it's from, I'll take the song down. That said, it follows a relatively common chord progression:
I-IV-I-V-I-IV-V-I
It could be that it sounds familiar because of that.
Addendum: If you've listened to my two over versions of this song, you might be remembering those. :)

yeah, that is most likely it
I have used the sound in my first game and linked in the credits to opengameart.org.
It´s played in the background of lvl 2 at 2x the speed. (good luck while trying to get there xD)
The game is a very difficult platformer:

Thank you for this music!
I credit you and used it in my Android game "Nessie Odysseus":

I'm using this in my "Honey, the Deers act Strange!" game. And it fitted just perfect!
Both 8-bit version in menu, and this one at gameplay!

Thanks Bart!
